i have been using CA CD 10 player for the past 2 years and 4 months. since last 1 week,it shows no disc message on loading cds. my cds are well kept and clean. also the behaviour is not constant.sometimes it reads, sometimes it won't...I am disappointed with the functioning of Cambridge audio CD 10, that it has started breaking down at an young age. what could be the possible reasons and solutions.? please throw some light on the issue. I have contacted hifimart and yet to decide to buy another cd player..marantz cd 5005.whats your opinion?

There could be various reasons why your CD player is showing no disc.
The most common issue is that the optical lens assembly is not able to achieve a focus lock on the CD's TOI (table of index). The primary underlying reason for this can be the focus lens have been burnt due to the laser's intensity on it.

When you load a CD does your CD player display the Table of contents immediately (usually happen with a second or two) or does it take time?
Do you hear noises when it is trying to load the TOC? This usually happen when the electromagnet is trying to move the focus lens up and down to achieve focus lock.

More simpler problem is a dusty lens assembly. This can either be resolved by using the CD cleaner of if you have the skills and tools to access the optical assembly block then you can simply use a microfiber cloth to clean the dust off.
