Hi Guys,

I know that dedicated HTs are way ahead than HTiB packages in terms of audio quality. But due to budget restriction (40K) I am having to think of HTiBs like Yamaha's YHT-2910.
My doubt is, if I purchase YHT-2910,
1) Will I be able to upgrade the front speakers and center speakers with Pioneers AJ designed speakers (bookshelf speakers) at a letter point of time? Or In other words will the AVR that I get along with YHT-2910 be capable of driving the bigger speakers like Pioneer BS22?
2) Do I have any option other than HTiB within 40 K to 45 K with separates? I can do with an AVR and two bookshelf speakers initially. The only thing is the AVR should be able to decode most of the latest HD audio formats other than ATMOS.

Hi

Depending on the HTiB you choose you can upgrade the speakers provided the technical specs match....check online which AVR comes with the YHT 2910 and check the technical aspects...more or less the BS22s should work....

The other option is purchase a separate AVR and the BS22s....for now and slowly upgrade the system with center, surrounds and the sub......

If budget is a constraint....look for good deals in the For Sale by owner section or Hi Fi Ads....i am sure there will be something there....all the best

Hi,
I'm having YHT299 and i upgraded FR,FL to Klipsch RB51IIs and center channel to Polk TSx150C everything working flawlessly and boy the sound quality improved drastically. Yes you can upgrade later but choose efficient speakers with high sensitivity. But buying good AVR with BS alone initially is better idea..you can later add on other components

Thanks a lot efernand1 and nr.kiran for your support and information.
Like you guys said, I also am thinking of purchasing a separate AVR and Pioneer BS22 fronts. I have around 4TB movies all of them with DTS HD-MA or Dolby True HD audio formats and quiet a few ATMOS as well. I know ATMOS is hard to come by in my budget.
Can you guys please suggest me an decent AVR under 30-35K that can play most HD audio formats available currently?(5.1 is sufficient for me)

Hi

You will need to use a Blu Ray player or media player to connect to the AVR via HDMI. The 4TB of movies which would be on a HDD can be connected to the Blu Ray player or Media player......hope you are aware that movies are regional based (Blu Ray A or B or C) and (DVD 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5).

See what all features you need in the AVR and go and audition the available brands....if budget is a constraint, see the For Sale by owner section or Hi Fi Ads...there is some nice AVRs available......

You need a player, either a BR or a media player or a PC to play those movies.
I had an Onkyo HTIB, and later I upgraded components one by one. It will be a long journey, but well worth

Thanks guys for the reply.
I do have a WDTV live that can stream video and audio from my hard disk to AVR. Please suggest me a good AVR that can stream all audio formats other than ATMOS to the speakers. My budget is 30K
