I just purchased LG BP last night. I was able to connected it up to the network within minutes and I thought all was fine. I could see my Windows Home Server (WHS) my laptop and desktop. Went to videos under the WHS and could see movies I ripped there and play them. I thought all was good.

However I then noticed it only shows about 8 of 100 movies. I noticed they all had same date, so it may have been that ripped them all the same day. ( I generally rip my movies to my WHS to keep a valid copy and for playing from the network).

I am not sure why only these 8 show up. I also noticed I have about 10 movies on my laptop. But the only ones that show up were movies coverted from the WHS to different format. Not the original files.

I thought it was permissions or something, but I enabled guest account on WHS and checked permissions for on folder that shows up, and one that does not and they were the same from what I could tell.

Any direction on this is appreciated.

Thanks

To add to it, your BDP will probably certain formats that it plays through DLNA, so you might have to either convert your files or do realtime conversion (requires a faster processor) and a good network connection. WHS is anyways not the best DLNA server, use PS3 media/Servioo/Tversity for Windows or Twonky/Mediatomb for Mac.

You haven't mentioned which model of LG is your BDP.

If it plays .mkv, rip them to .mkv. Its a much better way to go about it. Sharing a large number of files over network is not the most efficient method.
