I bought many years ago In Argos catalogue store A Sony CD player bottom of the range.
My wondering are : This 89 Cd player plays everything i put in it it plays SCDA it plays scratched damaged Cd's with finger prints Cds that are warped. It a work horse always reliable . It has a digital output sounds fine through a Cambridge Dacmagic into a Nad. I use it for my sony mini disc To make compilations mini discs.
My Roksan K2 CD player into the Roksan k2 amp is superb Don't get me wrong. But its fussy about what it plays. Put any of the above into it and it dose not want to know.
What do we pay for in a CD player Wouldn't it be more fitting if say there was a role reversal and the Roksan played everything you fed it and could hold your head up and say Thats why it cost what it did..
I saw a Pioneer SACD cd player advertised in Richer Sounds for 160 not a surround cd player just basic stereo. i admit it has a USB and Plays Files But !

Sorry Im scratching my head wondering. Are we being duped.
Why would i want a SACD stereo CD player when my cheap Bottom of the Pile sony plays them all perfectly.
