Since its a problem involving the TV the most , I posted here. Please move this thread if found inappropriate for this section

As you guys know I have purchased ST30 50" (yet to arrive) .

Looking from the PDF`s and sensor area of the ST30 , I am having problem with placement of center speaker of my Onkyo 3200

The second space will be used for the Airtel HD STB.

The sensors on ST30 is placed right in the middle , so i cant now place my center speaker.

I need advice . Is it ok to place it behind ? or will it affect the performance ?
also if I hang the center above the Plasma ,will it be ok ? I heard that the front left and right should also be at that height ?

anyother idea ?

You can shift the center speaker to right or left a little so as not to block the IR sensor. You can also hang it above the TV. After that you can adjust the speaker volume in your AVR manually or using audessey setup if available.

Do not speculate.
Worry only if you "see" a problem.
Let the TV arrive.

thanks , I will wait till the TV arrives and look if its a problem as BLASTO said..

Naveen, i had the same problem when i got my ST30, 50VT20 has 2 3D transmitter's.
I moved my center speaker towards right but place it few inches from your TV.

I saw the pics you posted, i guess u can remove the thermocol and place the amp directly in the wooden base and u can keep the center spkr over your amp.

can you post your setup(pic) ?

Right before the table is my bed. we have kept the thermacol since the AVR was too low , we couldnt use the remote. Will try placing it there and see how it sounds.. and report back...

I was also planning to keep the center speaker behind the TV or lift the TV few inches by placing a wooden box under it and place center speaker front of it.

Try placing your center spkr exactly where you've placed the polythene bag with Orange label, i have a similar setup and it works without any issues (will try to post pics by this weekend), If you still have issues you can try to place the TV below a wooden box or whatever but make sure that the setup is strong and gives a good balance to the TV's stand.

Thanks sunshine_vsk , will try different placement with current TV and see the difference.

since i am just 9feet away from TV , center speaker on side will look very odd.. :(

That stand was made for my Sony CRT 29" 4 years or so back.. :D cant wall mount the TV as i have a window at the back

Wait till the TV comes. Place the center channel a few inches from the TV towards the listener. If your TV has a good remote controller (wide dispersion of IR signals), it can get the signals by pointing the remote to the ceiling. My philips remote works without any issue even if i am pointing it from a side angle.

Depending on the size of the table, if possible, put a padastal kind of a wooden plate for your TV'S table mount which should raise the height of the sensor above the speaker's. This seems the best solution with least compromises / efforts.

Don't hurry into any decision yet. Let the jig be completed and try to live with it for some time. Then decide what you want to do.
