Hello Experts,

Currently I have a Denon x1200W and Tannoy v4i floor standers. I have a couple of questions. Which one to add first now Sub-Woofer or Center Speaker. Which ones would go well with my current setup?

TIA for help.

Go for a decent Sub.
A good subwoofer will improve the sound experience a lot.
You can buy the Centre and surround later.

i would say go for the centre first. it is probably the most important component of the HT system as all the dialogues come from the centre speaker.

would suggest to go with centre and sub together as both are important for movies, surrounds can be added later

Since you are having floor standers, you should be getting decent amount of bass from them when compared to bookshelf speaker. So my opinion would be to go with center channel speaker if you are more into movies. You can enjoy dialogues very well with center channel speaker added.

It depends what kind of setup you are planning. I always prefer a 2.x, 5.x,7.x,9.x, etc. Considering that I would suggest get a Sub for now and get the Center when you plan to get the Surrounds. A Sub will improve your music and movies experience.

Moreover, if your room is not weirdly shaped and your seating position is more or less at the ideal locations, you could just about get away from getting a Center channel. The receiver would automatically send the center channel signal to the front speakers. That would make it a 4.1 system. Do this when you get the surrounds.

I had a 9.0 setup with Sonus 2605 FS taking care of the bass for more than a year's time.. It was more than enough for my room 14x 11 feet.. Tannoy FS too should handle the bass good enough..

Adding a center channel would bring movies alive..

Me too prefer the center channel before going for sub, as you have FS to take care of the bass for the time being...

My current setup is same, FS and center channel.
Just match the center channel SPL with FS SPL or the vocals may be overthrown by the FS

I think it depends. I can speak form my experience when I stated assembling my HT years ago. I started with 2 fronts +Denon. Since I was watching lot of movies, I was really keen on enjoying the surround experience before anything else. Sub and CC enhance the overall experience but without surrounds you are completely missing a dimension. So I added surrounds then sub and in the end CC. Hope this helps.

Depends on your movie genres. If you watch a lot of drama, makes sense to go for center channel first. If it is action/adventure, sub makes sense.

Hi,
I suggest you to buy center channel first. Since center is playing the important role in movies, all dialog comes from center channel, better you prefer center first and then surround to fulfill the movie experience. At last you can buy a good sub to enhance the complete movie experience. FS will handle the bass effect.
