I was in the market for some CFLs lately and I got to do a bit of research on the updated lighting technologies. My house had some CFLs installed years ago, and they performed quite well, except that they were of lower wattage and 6500K. I didn't want 6500K in my bedroom, so I went with incandescent ones, since at the time I was having difficulty getting the 2700K ones.
The other day I picked up two philips 2700K CFLs, 23W with an inbuilt stabilizer (Rs. 215 each). They seem to be really nice. I bought the spiral design cause they looked cooler than the tube design. Havells was also available, but they were the screw type which I couldn't use. One 23W bulb is more than equivalent to one 100W incandescent. I couldn't find 3500K ones though, which would have been a nice option.
LEDs are the newest bulb type. Couldn't find them where I looked but didn't really look hard because of the cost which is very high. But their luminous efficiency is awesome (like 7W=60W) and lifetime is supposed to be much more than even CFLs.
