Hi,

I am building an entertainment unit and am leaving around 2 inches of space on sides and the top for heat dissipation for my amplifier (most probably Norge 1000 or Yamaha AS 500) and the DAC. Is this clearance good enough, or should i be leaving some more space?

Cheers, Manav

What is about backside?
Sidewise 2" is okay, preferably 3"on sides and 1" on top will do. 2" on top side welcome. Backside is where these power amps have heatsinks and it need circulating air through ventilation. That helps keeping its temperature within range of +10 degrees above ambiance. Less or no ventilation will result hotter heatsinks cooking the amp and less life span for gadget.
Open backside is required same time hot air need to escape from that cavity. That's why back open is one suggestion.
