Dear experts,

I am having LG HT924SF HTiB. I would like to know if technically the speakers can be connected to Denon X1000.

Here are the specs of my speakers:
Satellites: 1 way, 4 ohm, 175W rated input power, 310W max input power
Center: same as above
Passive Sub: 1 way, 3 ohm, 325 W rated/450 W max

http://www.lg.com/in/home-entertainment/lg-HT924SF-home-theater-system

While I am still hunting for my new speaker set, I would like to know whether there is any outside chance these speakers can actually work with Denon X1000 without causing damage to themselves or the AVR.

cheers.

Highly doubt if the speakers can be paired with your AVR....

not that they cannot be .. but a very risky affair.. at 4 ohm.. the denon will sure have some heat.. rather opt out..

OT though : I still wonder how they plonk a 1200 W amp in that small DVD unit ??

all the speakers including sub seems to be passive..

Can someone suggest a suitable AVR that match these speakers specifications? The biggest missing piece in my current HTiB is the lack of HDMI in option.

even if you buy an AVR which will be nothing less than 20k .. whats the point of using thos eplasticky speakers ...

i would suggest use them till you can.. and then sell it off as a HTIB and go get a new HTIB setup from onkyo/denon/yamaha..

for 25k you will get multiple options now which have hdmi in and HD audio...

those speakers wont do justice to AVR ...

Is there anything rated as pmpo in your LG setup? My suggestion buy a fresh Home theater and sell ur lg on olx or something :indifferent14:

A strange thing I am hearing is that we don't get 5.1 effect from airtel HD STB if we are only using HDMI connection from STB to HT. We would only get 5.1 effect if one uses an OPT out.

That means there is no HDMI audio passthrough from AirTel STB.

You need to change the settings for HDMI to output AC3 or DTS from standard stereo.......will check tonight and tell you if i can find in my box. Currently I use SUN directHD Box and i went inside and changed it to ac3 now I can find Dolby in my receiver. So you can see this.

Hi Gamemaster, will wait for your update.

Another question I have is, if we connect HDMI from STB to AVR to TV, how do we watch TV (using TV's audio) without using AVR's audio output? Just thinking about long watching hours. I am assuming if we do not draw power from speakers it will not heat up the AVR as much...or would it still heat it up?

I just noticed an interesting thing - HiFiMart has a combo for Wharfe MS 70+ with Denon X1000 and the speakers have 4 ohm impedance..!!
Wharfedale Moviestar 70+ Super 5.1 home theatre speaker system so I guess the 4ohm might be fine. We might still have to see how the whole unit works.

Yes Airtel HDMi does not output 5.1 and you need to connect a separate co axial cable for DD

My AVR has a standby HDMI option which passes through the signal to TV.
If standby option is not available connect the analog out of STB to TV directly

Coming back to the original query I think you should be able to safely connect all of your old speakers except the Sub to the Denon as a temporary measure. Suggest that you connect as a 5.0 system and keep a watch on the AVR temperatures for the first few hours of usage to be safe.
