Guys,

I am interested in buying a new TV and had a demo on various 42 inch tvs.
Most striking ones are Sony W850 and LG 6910 , my main requirements are

1. Good picture quality in SD and HD
2. Good 3d experience

Guide me in selecting a good option.

IMHO Both are good models..

I have LG 6910 and I absolutely love this TV. It has Incredible picture, unmatchable 3D quality!
The picture is stunningly beautiful. Beautiful colors, lifelike imaging, it's unimaginable.

SD Channels:
SD upscaling is excellent..

SOUND:
This TV has in-built 2.1 sound and sounds much better than other models. The sound is truly amazing with the built in sub woofer, best sound I have heard from any HDTV IMO.

on the other hand SONY w850 is a great T.V too, specially Triluminos is awesome.

If you want some exciting UI and next gen TV experience with some good PQ, SQ and 3D then go for LG. If you are not so much worried about UI and not a power user then better go off with SONY W850 (Strictly for PQ).

Reviews and suggestions apart, just walk into the showroom and believe your eyes.

Reviews for W850 are just trickling in. Sony TriLuminous tech is good but for full potential you need mastered in 4K Media and a compatible BD player. I think base panel on W850 is from LG (IPS). Also, not sure if Sony has used local dimming on this model as that can greatly vary the black level.

Somehow, I feel showroom's are not a good place for evaluation due to artificial lights and vivid display settings.

Actually I was almost finalized on LG 6910 , just before ordering it went to near by Croma and had a demo on W850 and Lg 6910 and then confused started. Some how in showroom W850 coloured looked more vivid and bright , not sure it is related to some default settings.

Also small features on Lg 6910 like remote and smart interface pulling factor for me , Can we get similar colour reproduction in LG 6910 as sony w850 by changing any settings.

LG 6910 out of the box has great PQ, also it can be adjusted according to your needs. Magic motion remote does make difference. T.V UI is so pleasing to use. Everybody said UI experience wont last longer but i thoroughly enjoy it everytime :ohyeah:.

2D to 3D is just amazing and SONY stands no where near LG here. 3D great as usual. (Don't buy T.V based on 2D to 3D performance)

This T.V won't disappoint you.

On other hand SONY is awesome for its PQ that's all. Sound quality is very mediocre but you can manage it with a sound bar.

If you can sacrifice some good features then go for Sony.
If you want more apps or UI buy an apple TV or Android box then you are good to go. :yahoo:

HOPE THIS HELPS.

Don't rush.. make a wise buy which suits your needs.

Hi Ramakrishna,

If you have decided on LG6910, just have a look at LG 6620 also which has similar features as that of 6910. 6910 differs only in Outer Silver frame. But, 6620 is available only in LG Shoppes and not in Dealer showrooms but you will get 6620 much cheaper than 6910.

Regards,
Siva
