So I'm looking at getting a small HT setup going in my room (not very big) and i was looking at the Logitech Z906 and a Samsung Blu-ray player. If anyone can suggest anything better that would be great; as for budget these two are stretching it for me.

3D Home Theatre | Samsung 3D Home Theatre System Series 5 - HT-F5500/XY - OVERVIEW

Speaker System Z906

My problem with this is that the BR player only has HDMI and optical digital audio out and I need to connect the player to my monitor which has no audio connects in or out and also I have a record player which has RC out so I wanted to use the RC input on the Logitech for that. So If I split the video and audio from the BR's HDMI out what should splitter should I use and does the cost effect the quality? and how do i avoid quality loss?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense and thanks.

The moment you think of HDMI its a single piece, though there are splitters for HDMI but it is the worst option, for there will be heavy signal loss and since HDMI can automatically change its encoding as per the input received your splitter will block it if the format changes and many other frustrations are available with your option

U can use HDMI to connect your monitor and a coaxial or digital for audio into your speakers

I apologize for any incorrect assumption, but where is the issue ?
The Samsung BD-F5500/XY player has an coaxial digital audio out
Blu-Ray Player | Samsung Blu-Ray & DVD Player Series 5 BD-F5500/XY - TECH SPECS

The Logitech Z906 comes with 2 digital optical and one digital coaxial input. Speaker System Z906

So use a coaxial cable to connect the bluray player to the Logitech.
The video goes over HDMI to TV
The RCA inputs on the Logitech are left free for your record player

Am I missing something ?
