Videocond2h STB have S/PIF OUTPUT and Philips HTS3532BL/94 have below rear connections.

Rear Connections: AUX IN 1, Composite video (CVBS) output, Digital optical in, FM Antenna Socket, Easy-Fit Speaker Jacks, HDMI 1.4 output (ARC)

LG 42' LEDTV REAR INPUTS & OUTPUTS

RF In (Antenna/Cable)
AV In
Component Video In (Y, Pb, Pr) + Audio
Digital Audio Out (Optical)
RGB In (D-Sub 15pin) - PC
PC Audio Input
HDMI In
Analog Audio Out (L/R)

I have ASus Oplaymini and Bandridge VAL4802 VL Digital Coax Cable RCA M - RCA M 2.0 m Data Cable.

will above items will help?

It is unfortunate that the Philips HTiB does not have Coaxial input.

If your TV has ARC channel, then connect as follows:

1. Videocon d2h STB --> (HDMI cable) --> Philips HTiB HDMI (ARC) --> LG TV HDMI (ARC)
2. ASus Oplaymini --> (Composite AV cable) --> Philips HTiB ===> You will not get 5.1 sound from Asus but may get Dolby Pro-Logic!

If your TV does not have ARC channel, then connect as follows:

1. Videocon d2h STB --> (HDMI cable) --> 1-in/multi-out HDMI Splitter
..... HDMI Splitter --> (HDMI Cable 1) --> Philips HTiB HDMI
..... HDMI Splitter --> (HDMI Cable 2) --> LG TV HDMI
2. ASus Oplaymini --> (Composite AV cable) --> Philips HTiB ===> You will not get 5.1 sound from Asus but may get Dolby Pro-Logic!

hi,

Thanks for the reply.to get 5.1 sound what kind of convert do i need to buy and give me some on line links for converters?

You can't convert to 5.1 sound. Period. The source must be encoded in 5.1 sound (usually Dolby Digital). Videocon d2h sends 5.1 sound via optical-out. but not via HDMI For some strange reason, the 5.1 sound is not output via HDMI .

Hi

If the STB output is optic?
If yest you can directly connect STB optic out to Philps. But I'm not sure Philips has the capability to decode Dolby from SPDIF in. I talked to Philips customer care today regarding this, as per his ignorance STB has only mono output. So, customer care can't help you.
Just connect and give a try.

If it is not working and your budget is low there are some Chinese audio decoders available online. Go to ebay and search for "audio decoder 5.1". Those costs around Rs.4000/- only.
You can give set-top box output to this and analog output of this to Philips.

If you have good money you can buy a good AV receiver with speakers :)

Ashok
