Hey guys! I'am completely new to this forum. I already converted my basement(Its small)into a full-fledged Home theater, all i need is the AV equipment. Since the designing of the HT costed quite a bit, I have to settle on a projector and a good 7.1 for a maximum of 1.7 lakhs. One of my friends agreed to get me the Optoma HD33 from the US. I have around 1.1 lakhs left. As far as the audio goes, I picked,

1) Package - Jamo S606 HCS 3 5.0 Speaker System
2)Surround - Wharfedale DIAMOND 10.DFS
3) Sub - Junglee.com: JBL SUB150P Sudio 1 300 Watt Sub Woofer (Black)
4) AMP - Sony STRDH820 7.2 Channel 3D AV Receiver (Black) | eBay

What do you guys think? Please tell me if there is any problems with my suggestions? Remember i cant exceed my Price limit. Thanks!

One suggestion. There is hardly any content available in 7.1 audio now. So it is better to buy 5.1 speakers now and upgrade later by adding two surrounds. For sub, consider the JBL ES 250 from amazon.de. Many forum members are using that sub. Also I doubt whether Sony AVR will be a good choice.

Well that doesnt mean you go for a 5.1 alone. Thats for RIGHT NOW. But its wise to be future proof and get your room wired up for 7.1 or 7.2 depending on the size or thump youd like.

Sony is not considered an AUDIOPHILE brand. Look out for oprions like Onkyo if your preferance is movie heavy or MRANTZ if you like to own a decent sterio jig also. In that case go for a better quality floor stander pair or a good pair of stand moints as your fronts and try and match other componenets. Ensure your center is of the same sound nature as your fronts- I would stretch and say to get same series of fronts plus center (e.g. Polk audio RTi A7 fronts with RTi series center or Paradigm Monitor 9 series 7 fronts with Monitor series 7 center)

Excellent idea!!!
Marantz/Denon for receiver.........better speakers than Jamo, maybe paradigm, polks, mordaunt short, etc...........start with 5.1 and later upgrade to 7.1, if needed.

Assumptions
1. Source you already have as you haven't mentioned it
2. Size of basement small (<200 sqft)
3. Preference is primarily for movies

I think you have not considered cost of screen (10-15k), cost of cables (5k) and room acoustics.

If you keep around 20k, you should be able to get a budget AVR and keep the rest for speakers.

If the room is small, use a sub sat combo- from various players. I think at around 50k you should be able to get better stuff than the the Jam s606

Thanks for the Info guys! Can you post some links to the products you think i should buy? Ill do the wiring for a 7.1 then. Ill buy the two extra surround speakers later. And i already have a 120 inch projector screen. There is a 7.1 mrantz for rs 25000 on hi-fi mart, ill pick that up
