Hi all,

If I get a Region A BDP from USA where can I get it modded and make it region free? Also what is the estimated cost for modding the Sony S360?

I have a Sony BDP S360 and heard that its quiet complex to modify compared to Panasonic and Pioneer.I wrote to Blu ray Mods.com and they requested me to ship the player to Sweden so that they can modify it for me.......:ohyeah::ohyeah::ohyeah:

The cost of transport will let me purchase another player.......so best is to buy a Region A player and sit with it since I have found most movies to be region free and any blu ray you buy from Singapore / HK or Bangkok or USA will be Region A. So why worry ??

I concur with deba. The cost of modding is almost the same as that of the player. Plus there is shipping involved. Modding cost, Shipping and insurance makes the proposal unattractive.

On the other hand, there are some online stores in US that sell region free BDPs. Once again the cost is almost twice of the region locked player.

Sony players are most difficult to mod.

My suggestion is same. Stick with Region A player. Over 75% of blu-ray titles are region free. If at all required, in future, buy a region B player. I do not see a requirement of Region C player anytime. The disadvantage is that you have two devices instead of one.

Well I can't imagine having two players..means more wires, more space to find in my HT furniture! I agree about Deba and Just4kix about the region A thingy, but I would hate to find even one disc one day which doesnt play on my player! Now certain players are so cheap I think even the cost of modding can be easily built into the ownership..e.g. Sony S360 is selling for just 5.5k in US..

So Pioneer or Panasonic players will be better for modding? where can I get them modded at Mumbai any idea?

But the thing is BDP-S360 is very difficult (if not impossible) to mod. I am not sure where in Mumbai modding service is available. Better to buy already modded player.

Agree about issues of having two players. But you are just adding one more HDMI cable. I do not find that a very big deal. But that's me speaking strictly.
