Hi,
Dont go for the croma, sansui, videocon, akai, sansui, lloyd etc. They procure cheap panels and use unknown mother board.
If budget is a constraint, try for Toshiba LCD tv, you will get a quality product.
Second option will be try 2 get a sony/samsung from grey market with dealer warranty for peace of mind.
^ Yeah, though the price might be very tempting - IF and IF you do have some problems even after warranty is over, you will regret it. And maybe picture quality also is not so great.
Also, you can consider Plasma's some of the entry level plasmas go for as cheap as 38k or less. They have excellent Color definition ,good black levels and good motion resolution.
Only down side is reflection, as long as you dont have sunlight falling directly in your room, you should be fine.
I believe Philips has exited the LCD business. You sure we will get support on Philips LCD ?
In india Videocon will sell under the brand Philips. (Might as well pick up videocon and save a few bucks... ). The Final Act: Philips Exits TV | DisplaySearch Blog
I have visited "Vijay Sales Agency" at delhi to browse on the available LCD TV.
The brands which i could see were SAMSUNG, LG, SONY & AOC in the 40-44 inch category.
SONY & SAMSUNG picture quality was good.
due to bad experience with samsung i personally donot like samsung.
LG was found a little on the lower side based on the clarity, contrast & brightness which was compared and adjusted on a common non HD broadcast.
AOC - picture quality was not sharp as sony, samsung or lg. but with a little adjustment to the britness, contrast & sharpness i would say it delivered close to 80% in comparision to other brands.
SOUND - couldnot make out at the dealer.
PRICE
AOC price was around 35000 for 42 inch LCD
SONY, SAMSUNG & LG were in the range 44 to 55000.
I have a AOC 21 inch monitor which is quite good in comparision to LG monitors.
The big question is is it worth saving close to 10,000 on a LCD or invest more in a LED TV.
