DAC and input question..

I have a SMSL MK500 III DAC and I'm using on PC. I don't have problem with sound quality but for some stream services, I need to use Google Cast device.

The problem is casting device connected my monitor via HDMI and DAC connected PC via USB so I dont get any sound when I use Cast. if I want sound, I need to get the audio data coming to the monitor via hdmi from the headphone output on the monitor.

So my question is, can I send the audio data from the monitor headphone output to the DAC device?

What is your casting device?
You cannot input the analog headphone out of your monitor to the digital ins of your DAC. The simplest solution would be to buy a streaming device like wiim and connect it to the dac via coax or optical.

my device is google chromecast (4K (new ones, I mean white)).

While looking settings cast device, I realized that it has a bluetooth, the DAC also has the ability to connect via bluetooth and I connected it, the sound comes, of course I don't know if I get 5.1 or 7.1 sound because if I know right, spatial audio is exclusive to the PC..

Though I haven't tried, but try getting a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm stereo cable and connect monitor's headphone out to MIC in on the computer and that way the audio should be routed to DAC via USB. Keep in mind though if this works, it just for the sake of convenience because you will not be benefitting from the DAC's quality conversion because your digital would have already got converted by Google device.

Fortunately, I had all the necessary hardware to test this, I tried and it worked. Just that after you connect the cable, you will have to enable this setting.
