Dear friends, please inform me from where can I purchase dc synchronous motors for record players in Kolkata.I need couple of these 12v motors. Please reply.
Thanks in advance..

Its better not to buy motors for cassette decks and turntables from the Indian market. You'd usually get either Delhi made ones or Chinese ones. Better to buy these from abroad, online. You'll get great quality and much better performance. Unless you are looking for a spare for an Indian record player or Turntable, straight away rule out Indian spares.

I understand. But i want one for one my hmv fiesta. You know it's unwise to spend much for this model. So I'm in search of a cheap motor and I found no shop!!

Dear all, after much search and googling, I could not manage to find out a motor. Please help by providing any link from where I can buy a new motor.
Thanks in advance..

I don't know if this fits your bill or not. There must be some options at student project shop who sells electronics as well as robotics kits etc. I have seen different options of motor at these shops. I have seen it with gears as well as without gears too.

i was shopping for a motor for a cassette deck in chennai, and I was given a Matsushita motor out of some old deck, and it worked much better than the new-ish mabuchi motor which had already started acting up. It was a pleasant surprise :)

Can you share the details of the motor you are looking for.

These are the photos of the motor.I even don't know the rpm of it... Deck motors rpm are much higher than this motor.

What is problem with that motor, if brush are culprit (generally) then replace it with other motor parts.

The motor is dead.. It's not running. I've checked the voltage.. but there is no Problem with the supply. The brushes are intact. I think the coil has gone.
I've tried a tape deck motor with PWM circuit and it worked good. But the problem is those tape deck motors don't have any space for insertion of screws.

I'm eager to repair it because it was my first seen record player in childhood and lots of sentiments are attached to it. My grandfather (who is no more) bought this from Calcutta HMV factory.

HMV fiesta had ac synchronous motor. I had one fiesta turntable which was given away. For authenticity if you need same motor will look for one. But it will take time.
addition : your pic looks like someone modified/replaced the original motor.
Regards.

You are right.. I've a good no of Fiesta and all of them have AC synchronous motor. But I think that my Grandfather had replaced it (I guess it) and so this dc motor is there.

How was the supply given to the motor ? If coils are gone with higher power supply usually thin wires attached to the commutator from coil usually gets burned. So if you open and check it you may solder it with another insulated thin copper wire . I guess instead of regulating low power dc motor for exact speed controll etc. if you replace it with proper original ac motor you will get good torque and speed. You only have to make brass pulley so speed is accurate. That too if you find original motor will not be required.
Regards

Looks like the newer models of Fiesta, whose deck was made of plastic. The older fiesta had a complete wooden deck & plinth. Also, I do feel like others; that the original motor has been replaced. Partha, can you please provide us with more shots of the internals so that we can spot change in electronics which may have gone into feeding a DC current to this motor? Also, if my knowledge is correct, the older fiesta had a 2600 RPM AC motor. The newer plastic deck fiesta's motor was slower because of the change in the size of the platter.

Yes. You are right. A 12v step down transformer is supplying the motor. I'm posting some shots asap.

I've checked it. The wires are intact. Yet it's not rotating. Are there any other possibilities to be checked?

Is the spindle free? Or stuck up?

Also, if the DC motor which has gone kaput is same as a deck motor, finding a replacement should not be difficult. What kind of motor is it?
