DDB TVs

I also noticed a DDB TV on display/demo at Cinepolis in BG rd Meenakshi Mall, B'lore, but didnt have to time to take a look as was running late to meet Mr. Bond.. :)

The TV was showing some hidef beach scenery and had a 'Xxtra wide' aspect ratio though..

EDIT: Just noticed, there is another older thread here : http://www.hifivision.com/television/29128-videocon-ddb.html

Well, Today I got a chance to see DDB enabled TV (Philips 7 series).
Boy, I was pretty impressed by the PQ it delivered. Just awesome.

Seen and compared couple of channels side by side with leading TV brands(don't want to take names to avoid debate ;)) connected with Tata sky HD and I could see the difference in colour re-production and clarity.

I was aware that all other TVs must have been connected through HDMI repeaters / splitters but still. Something was special in DDB.

I am just talking about transmission and not frill features on DDB TV. Neither I am talking about pros and cons of it. Just PQ. Simple !
Not to mention DDB does not require any cabling or dish hassle. (as per salesman)

If get a chance, do have a demo.

Saw Philips DDB TV (32 inches),
I was impressed
but at 37k, its out of my budget
Sansui and videocon DDBs are around 28-29 K

Which Would be better Sansui or Videocon DDB
With philips DDB they are offering Karboon Tab (10 inches) (Price 37K)

do they really operate without stb for signal,
what was ur exp and what input signal was displayed during demo of philips there

Yes. As per salesman it operates without Dish or STB as its already built in. You just need tor re-charge your code like mobile phone.
Here is the extract from net

" The DDB technology negates this as the set-top integration is within the chip, so the received signal is directly transmitted without any down scaling. With the DDB technology, digital signals are received without the need for a set-top box. "

Watch TV without a set top box DDB is here

Well it was not connected to any 'input' as it already has bulit in 'receiver'.
(Just like radio gets FM transmission)

The PQ was fantastic without any distortion.

thats what is my doubt, is it receiving d2h from videocon through ddb mode or who is the service provider
we cannot catch all the dth in air like from any company
did u see any symbol of d2h or any other company during demo???

Currently on DDB TV 's only Videocon D2h will work
Airtel, Zee Dish TV, Tata Sky, Reliance etc will not work at all
With DDB's they are giving 1 year free (HD) subscription

but it has option of Over the Air upgrade, in future it will port with other DTH's just like our sim cards

so nice of u to give this much info
if at all u pass on a good review, may be we can plunge into this digital era
little bit uncomfortable with products from videocon..thats why critical review is requested....
