Hi,

I just received an promotional email from ebay.co.in with regard to deals on gadgets. They are offering SONY BRAVIA KDL 40 EX520 40 LED TV for Rs.46,999. Similarly SAMSUNG 40" LA40D550 LCD TV for just Rs.33,155. All of these deals comes with manufacturers warranty.

Does someone have any idea why are these being offered for such low prices? Is there anything hidden what people are not able to see?

Are you sure its with manufacturer warranty because is seriously doubt that.

All those cheap deals have dealer warranty.

I asked the Seller regarding the warranty. He said it is seller warranty i.e warranty on service only and for parts the buyer has to bear the cost.

what does dealers warranty means...?
It means the seller/dealer is giving the warranty, not the manufacturer. You cannot take it to the manufacturer's authorized service center or even call the service center for any issues.
Basically, it's a grey market item. Whatever happens to the item, you will have to deal with the seller for repairs/replacement. If the seller is from a different city than yours, you will have to send the item to him by courier, etc and bear the hassles and/or cost. And since there is no legal binding to the seller's warranty statement, they can refuse it at their will any time. Overall this is equivalent to no warranty.

There are other sellers on eBay.in offering factory warranty on LED TVS. I bought a 32 Toshiba costing Rs. 19000 in the market for Rs. 13000 on eBay. We have to keep tracking the right deal.

Funny!
Actually its the other way round.
Warranty covers the manufacturing defects and part failure due to manufacturing defects.

These components are supplied free of cost under warranty period.
HOWEVER, the service component - that is engineer visit and engineer diagnosis are sometimes charged (but sometimes free under warranty) - you've got the fine print of terms & conditions.

Thats under the manufacturer warranty.

@managana
That is as good as no warranty.

these are basically grey market items...there are lots of these guys in big cities, especially Chennai and Mumbai who stock grey market stuff...they say that they will offer dealer warranty, which is usually a quack attempting to service it for you (mostly one of their group). Stay away from such people. While you may get some good stuff if you are lucky, you may also end up with some faulty or repaired stuff.

in malaysia lastweek LG 40 inch 3d tv was 25,000 ..
so such prices are good ..

but i dont think warranty is there
