I require avr and speakers for small room 11 feet x 11 feet. I was suggested denon 1611 + paradigm ct70 combination by avexcellence at Pune. I want the set to be more suited for music than for movies and was not satisfied when the set was auditioned for music.

I hope some audiophile can help me clear these doubts.

- If I want to replace the left/right speakers with bookshelves - what bookshelf would go with the above combination?
- does 1611's audyssey in manual mode provide full control over the sound like a graphic equilizer?
- if i go for bookshelves with wide frequency range, can I do without the
woofer and the centre speaker? is there any audio specifically directed at
the centre speaker in 5.1 that I will miss?

regards,
Benny

U can go for Wharfedale 9.2 or 10.2 (audition both) as they are musical compared to paradigm ct70 which is more of a cinema package

When Using the bookshelves with an avr, u will obviously require the Subwoofer and center channel if yr preference is using HD/DVD 5.1 channel audio

- does 1611's audyssey in manual mode provide full control over the sound like a graphic equilizer?... I am not aware of this one

satellite + sub combo wont be great for music, you start building the setup with bookshelf speakers in the front.

........except, if you settle for Wharfedale Moviestar 70+ (5.1) satellite unit. That is good for movies and EXCELLENT for music, both, 2.1 channel or 5.1 surround. Took me a long time to decide ..... but once, I chanced upon this speaker set, bought it without further ado.

My room size is 15' x 11' and the speakers do full justice. Yours is 11' x 11' ... would do more in your case.

You need a pair of bookshelves and a stereo amp to get the best in music in that budget. I have a CT70 with an Onkyo AVR and its pretty rubbish for music. Its good only for movies and games and that is what I use it for.

so would this be a good combination for those with small rooms and predominantly music oriented ?

AVR: Denon 1611
Left/Right: Wharfedale 10.2 - 2 nos.
Surrounds: Wharfedale 10.SR - 2 nos
centre:Wharfedale 10.CC
woofer: Wharfedale 10SX-SUB

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
