My 7 year old Onkyo 3300 was still doing its duty, but like any HT enthusiast I was also starving for an upgrade for long. Went on a vacation to UAE 2 weeks back covering 4 of the 7 emirates there. The last emirate was Dubai, where I found my next love - Denon X2300W in the form of a deal. Not sure whether it really was a deal for AED 2800 (roughly 50k), but that was enough to overpower my mind, who welcomed the beast to India in no time. There was no issue with the customs.
I was tied up with work for next few days but eventually got some time yesterday to unpack it an test it out. I was not able to connect my sub, as it needs another connector. Also I may have to spare some money for another pair of bookshelves to experience DTSX/Atmos. Even without them in place, the beast was performing like anything. Denon easily paired with my Polk/Onkyo speakers and gave good soundstage.
Initial impressions -
>Solid performance
>Superb Audyssey calibration
>Video upscaling
>Budget price
>Good UI
>Remote is OK
>Volume level is low compared to my old Onkyo, but enough
>Source switching takes bit more time than Onkyo
Overall - I am impressed.

Yet to explore more, and will keep you posted as I get time.

Congrats on your AVR..Yes, it is a very good deal.. Pro FX sell's it for around 80K with Bill.. Grey market price is roughly 45K.. So all in all, it is a good deal and a very good AVR..

Myself too migrated to Denon AVR after my Onkyo went Kaput..

Friends, can you please suggest good surrounds which will timber match with my polk tsx150c center channel? I have onkyo towers which is performing well and I am not planning to change them. I also have small onkyo surrounds performing okay, which I am planning to move to surround back for a 7.1 channel setup with my denon x2300w. Please suggest

Congratulations on your purchase.

Even I upgraded in a similar fashion as you, from Onkyo to Denon and boy I love it. Well I got the x4100w for having that extra power instead of having another amp in the chain. I really wanted a good powered amp compared to my previous Onkyo which was good but lacked on power, as my speakers demanded more I guess. I got a good deal and a decent buyback of my old amp.

Overall, I'm very happy that I invested in denon and now it gels well with my Polks. Only weak link in my chain is the surrounds, its still the Onkyo sats left from my previous setup, cannot upgrade due to space restrictions.

x2300w, is a great amp with lots of features and specially all the 8 HDMI ports are HDCP 2.2 certified. And it has earned lots of awards and editors choices.
Even the x3300w is a beautiful amp and worth the upgrade for anyone coming from previous amps which lack modern features.

Surrounds don't really need to be timbre matched. It's the center which needs to be timbre matched to front left and right speakers. You can look at polk owm3 surrounds. I am using them and quite happy.

Willing to upgrade from Denon AVR 2113 to x3300 . Please advise, other than Dolby Atmos/ DTS X encoder, will upgrade beneficial in sound quality, multichannel processing. Whatever feature available with Denon AVR 2113 are sufficient for me. Please let me know availability and Gray market price in Mumbai.

The Denon 2113 is a superb amplifier with almost everything what today's amps offer. Other than atmos, dtsx, dsd and maybe a few others it decodes everything. You may not be able to use the modern blu ray features as mentioned but truehd and dtshd ma are more than sufficient if you're not going to use them. It even has 4k upscaling if I'm not wrong.

Sound quality too is good in what you have presently, it will surely make it a little better.

Overall if you're looking for a complete upgrade with atmos speakers and other things then it would be wise to upgrade now otherwise it's better to wait for a few more years and then decide. That's my opinion, you've to decide.

If you like what Audyssey does, then upgrading to Denon x 3300 would offer better performance.. 2113 has Multi EQ XT while x3300 has Multo EQ XT32.. Audyssey has also rolloed out mobile app, to tweak Audyssey settings..

I think you should give some more time and pick 9.2 AVR straightaway..

Dolby Atmos is 2 channel or 4 and how much channels do we really require for home theater system. 5.1.2 is sufficient or 7.1.2. movies are recorded with how many Atmos channels.

5.1.2 layout is a minimum for Atmos/ Dts X. But either 5.2.4 (or) 7.2.4 would be great for home theater..

movies are recorded with how many Atmos channels.

The height channels in Atmos / Dts X are not channel based.. They can adapt to 2 (or) 4 overhead speakers, based on speaker inputs in the AVR menu..

2113 is an excellent amp. Unless and until you badly need the fancy Atmos or DTS X setup in your home. I should say it wont be a huge difference in the sound quality. But you will be getting a lots of features in them along with the latest atmos & DTS x. Upgrade would be worth only if you need the latest audio formats along with multiEQ xt32.
