Did anyone unlocked any blu-ray player from USA

Hi I am planning to buy a blu-ray player from usa to use in India. I wondered if anyone ever unlocked any blu-ray player from usa. I did some resaerch on this and came to know that we can unlock some players if we bought them in other countries but not from usa.

We can unlock players from USA or any part of the world using software or hardware mod.

HI Venkat, Thanks for the links. It seems that mod will work only on Panasonic old models BD-55,60,80. and also the price of both Player and mod is relatively high than other brand player in India. In India Samsung BD5500 are selling for 10k and i am getting same here for 5K. If i can mod it for around 1-2K then i will buy it here. or else i think there is no point in buying it from USA.

If you don't need 3D, then buy Sherwood BDP 5004. It is region free and you don't need to install any mod.

yes, you are right that is an exemplary one. However, most of the modding techniques remain pretty much the same.

This was done way back in 2009-10 when BDP was a new terminology. As you said, we are getting BDP even at 6K in India, so no point in modding, let alone warranty.

BDT110 here is about 15K and in the UK its about 8600, also BDT220 is about $135 from the US. However read that unlocking a BDT110 needs universal remote or needs a firmware upgrade? How about getting a BDT220 from the US? Even for DVD region free hack its not so easy AFAIK, or am i missing something

I bought Samsung BD-E5500 10 days before in Chennai for 11K but it is cannot play .wav, AAC , wav encoded with dts and many audio formats and u cannot change the audio as per your taste which has multiple audio formats like (DTS and Dolby digital) but now I got a chance to change the unit with the reseller n swapped to Sony BDP-S190 and it playes everything and I got a option of changing the audio from the remote level in just one press with a dedicated button and the cost is 6.5K only also more features.....DONT GO FOR SAMSUNG in Ble-ray players....They are good in LCDs may be.......

Thats wrong info.

I had bought the bdt110 last year and have unlocked it. Infact for most panasonic blu-ray players it is possible to unlock many other features too besides making it region free. And that is done with the normal remote.

Basically you need to buy an enhanced firmware and flash the player with it. Then you can region unlock it, besides other things.. using remote combinations.
