Difference in 3d glasses

There was a time when Active 3D glasses were heavy, cumbersome, clumsy, prone to slipping from the nose, and hurting. The 2012 series from Samsung and Panasonic are much more improved on all form factors. They are light (23g or so), easy to fit even over prescription glasses, and will soon make you forget that you are wearing them.

But active 3D still suffers from crosstalk and I get a headache very soon.

You must take your own demos and judge.

I too agree on your point of being active 3d glasses giving crosstalk and also produce headache for watching few minutes. I think active glasses are still heavy as compared to passive ones and passive sets don't have any health related issues as well.
Brands like LG,Toshiba have passive glasses in India. I adore LG for their design and also the picture quality they deliver..

Actually how many of you own an active 3d tv. Don't talk rubbish if you don't own a active 3d tv. Cross talk and headache. A big Lol

I own a active 3D TV and I can say plenty on crosstalk and headaches. Everyone in our house found the active 3D experience not so ... err ... endearing. It was wonderful and all that for 20-30 minutes or so.

There is crosstalk sometimes when I could see double images. It is not that it is a constant and it does not happen too often. But it goes and comes back. It (crosstalk) stays for a very short duration. When I removed the glasses, the eyes got a big relief. The headache is minor but there. Just after removing 3D glasses, there is like dizziness and a sense of disorientation for a minute or two.

If you are not suffering from the any of these symptoms, then it is wonderful for you. Do not assume that everyone is same. Then again, if you get no headache, then perhaps some organs are missing? ;)

Lol, which tv you own mate? Buy a good tv when you buy ? Too heavy glasses go check out the one Samsung have, you will understand. Go and consult an eye specialist.

I don't own a active 3d tv but have experienced it few times at my friends place, He owns a Samsung 3d tv and he himself says he himself is fed up with active.

Seriously i don't think that glasses are heavy, have sgs 3100gb. Anyway lets stop the discussion here, no use arguing. Some will have no problem some will have, let's leave it there

There is a significant weight difference between the battery powered 3D glasses and polarized film 3D glasses. In fact, the polarized glasses weigh a mere 16 grams as compared to electronic glasses which can weigh up to 40+ grams. Hope this helps.

You are behind the times, my friend. New active 3D glasses are just 23g or so. Yes they are still slightly heavier but not by so much.

I've offered my thoughts on this topic on a few different threads. I think that issues with 3D watching tend to be pretty specific to the viewer. I've watched about 10 3D movies so far and except for once, when I tried to watch a movie well after my bed time did i experience any discomfort. I've not experienced any headaches or crosstalk so far. That's not to say others haven't experienced this.

Regarding weight -- the Panasonic Glasses that came with my ST50 weigh 30g and the Samsung SSG-4100's that I just picked up weigh 21g. SSG's feel super light compared to the Pana's.

It's all a matter of fate that you haven't experienced any crosstalk or flicker despite using the active shutter glasses.
Active shutter glasses have a approx weight of 23-25g and i agree they had became a lot lighter than before but still we can't neglect the fact that the cons related with it in terms of producing headache and crosstalk still remains with it and that's a point which makes passive take lead from active shutter glasses.

The active glasses have also became quite light weighted these days and I don't think there is much difference in overall weight of active and passive ones.
