I am thinking of making some DIY speaker stands. The design is largely based on the TNT design of sandwiching a PVC between two boards..... with one modification. Instead of using the long threaded rod inside the PVC, I was thinking maybe I'll use a length of wood. Can anybody comment on whether this will affect the sound in a negative way.....
The reason for replacing the threaded rod with wood.... I'm not too much of a carpenter and the idea of drilling those holes is not very appealing. It would be easier to simply hammer the damn things in with brute force . Also I have no idea what kind of shop to get the threaded rod from.
Any help appreciated.
