Do we get high quality movie experience for Ripped Movies?

Do we get high quality movie theater experience (5.1 or 7.1 ..) even for the Ripped movies which we get in internet downloads, if we use good AV receiver & Home theater

Yes, if the movies are 720p or 1080p bluray rips with 5.1 audio. In my experience a 3GB rip file gives very good pq and sq.

check for DTS X264 rips.....around 4.8Gb....
ac3(DD) is also good...

All are over 6-8GB, supports 6 channel, DTS Audio.

If the audio is encoded with DD/Dts,then yes. AAC can sound soft.

I have many movies around 15 ~ 20 GB file size...either in 720p (or) 1080p... The audio format is mostly DTS....1536 Kbps/1.5 Mbps (or) 754 Kbps highest in lossless audio

Also in Dolby digital soundtrack where they are @ variable bit rates ranging from 600 ~ 1500 Kbps..

I would say this is subjective and really depends on the source and the quality of the rip.

I have various rips ranging from 2.5 gigs to 14 gigs each movie. Though I have found superior quality on larger rips, at times, smaller rips have surprised me with the A/V quality.

An example for the above is the rip of the movie 'Brave'- a 4 gig BD rip with DD 5.1 - trust me, I was bowled over in some of the areas especially during the first bear attack!

Last night I tried the tamil movie 'Singam' with DTS HD MA, a 12.5 gig rip which was wonderful to watch and hear!

Use google search for 1080p or 720p BRRIP. We can't post any specific link as it is against forum rules.

Most likely there will be a difference, whether you can make out or you care depends on the components used and your eye for detail.

For ex. there is a significant difference between DTS and DTS HD. Rips unless copied from a hard disk will never have HD audio.

Similarly, the resolution of the print is not the only indicator of video quality, although, unfortunately its the most obvious. It will depend upon the compressions used and hence the quality.

Size of file of a popular rip should be a good indicator though not fool proof.

As indicated 4 GB is a good start but will again depend on your components, if you have a small screen, you may be happy with a 2GB rip too.

Sorry for diverting from the topic...I'm looking into buying a media player to play these blu ray rips...ranging from 4 to 16GB of size, MKV format...which media players are capable of playing these rips with art subtitles...??? I don need online streaming ...
Or can blu ray player play these files from ext HDD???

Hi, Sorry for diverting from the topic. I want to buy a media player to play these blu ray rips (mkv format) in the range of 4 GB to 16 GB 1080p movies...Which media player does play these movies with srt subtitles...?? I don't want any online streaming stuff...only source is ext HDD...
Or can any blu ray player can play these movies???
