DTS gone with the wind - ONKYO TX SR313

Friends,

I recently bought ONKYO TX SR313 AVR (with wharfedale 400) for my second home to use it with XBMC through laptop. The weird thing is that avr shows dolby sign, but noway dts/dts hd. Even, xbmc also fail to display dts option in settings despite of supported files. I am sick and tired trying out all troubleshooting methods with XBMC and Onkyo. FYI, i use windows 8.1 (with dedicated Nvidia graphics card) and i am unable to configure even 5.1 audio option in my laptop. I changed my hdmi cables also, but no success so far.

Your opinion and valuable suggestions are much appreciated, desperate for help.

Change xbmc settings level to expert or advanced and try different passthrough settings. You can also try the latest kodi version.

Are you sure that your video files are with DTS audio?
Else try MPCHC to test id Onkyo reads it correctly.

Baiju: I did all settings in XBMC including expert option, no dts
Spiro: I'm pretty sure about the files as i used same files in India with my denon avr with dts audio.

Try playing the files with windows media player. It does not decode dts or dolby. It is passed to the receiver. If your receiver doesn't have any issues then dts will be displayed. If you are using MPC then select the audio pass through option.

To my wonder.. i reset everything and dts & dts HD are back.. Thanks a lot guys.. Very helpful !

Try Media Player Classic. This will definitely work. Make sure the audio is pass-through. I was able to get DTS-HD Master Audio through this on windows 8.1
