Hello Friends,
I have listened some branded integrated amplifiers and power amplifiers for the past few years. I wish to hear some more high end amplifiers but my budget does not permit me to afford. In this situation i got introduced a nice person through this forum Mr.Vijay Prabhu (@tnvijay) to whom i discuss about my interest in hifi music and my limitation in buying high end audio peripherals. He told me that he will make me a valve amplifier made of a pair of ECL82 valves which is affordable for me. I have waited for a couple of months and then he gave me this tiny little Giant ( I have attached the photo) which consumes only 12v 5 amps power supply and the output of this amplifier is only 1 watt but the sound is amazing. I am very much satisfied with this amplifier. I am using ahuja SK-12FR X full range 12 inch speakers for this amplifier. It is driving the 12 inch speakers well and the sound quality is remarkable. Thanks to Mr.Vijay Prabhu (@tnvijay) and hifi vision forum which is a good platform for many audiophile members who can learn many information about audio. I am also very thankful to the forum members @Kannan, @reubensm, @Vimal M who assisted me very much in exploring new possibilites in audio.

Very nice to see an affordable tube amp. Can you share some pictures of your speakers as well?
It's nice to see tube gear available more and more locally ...

High efficiency single drivers with low watt tubes is a culture upon itself. Glad you landed in a happy place. Enjoy :)

Very interesting speaker. Can you share some more information on them?
As YM mentioned above, high efficiency speakers with low watt tube amps can be very satisfying.

Congratulations on putting together a great setup!

Congratulations 👏...

As FMs mentioned above, lot of people will benefit if you could describe your speaker builds and related stuffs. Being single driver configuration and yet cheaper (as you mentioned) lot of people who are new to this hobby will get a boost by knowing the funda of your speaker setup. May be you can start another thread if you don't want to mix it with the amp thread.

Thank you friends. The speaker I am using us Ahuja 12 inch sk 12- frx. Which cost me around 3.5k for pair. The wooden box is custom made which costs around 5k.

Hello friends
If you want more details technically about the amplifier you can contact Mr. Vijay prabhu (@tnvijay) who designed this amplifier and he is well versed in electronics and he is a nice person too. I don't know much about the amplifier technically.

Thankyou sir for your kind words.. Just a small information - we get around 1.8 to 2 watts, and if you have high efficiency drivers, This can be surprisingly loud in a average listening room...

When you say high efficiency what specs do you generally refer to ?

As a thumb rule, Anything over 95dB/watt will be usually suitable for low power tube amps.,and will be good enough for a average sized room at a not so far listening position.Any driver over 98dB, we are blessed, The amplifier will make Neighbours knock your door..If you want to be more accurate we should Stick with Paul joppa 102dB rule..
Also, the cabinet design matters. Transmission line cabinets will increase the sensitivity of the Drivers

Here is a practical example of application of Paul joppa 102 dB rule

Amplifier power is most usefully expressed in dB, which can be added to the speaker sensitivity to get the peak level. Here's a short table:

1 watt = 0dB
2 watts = 3dB
4 watts = 6dB
8 watts = 9dB
16 watts = 12dB
32 watts = 15dB
64 watts = 18dB

So for example an 86dB speaker needs 10 to 40 watts to obtain undistorted peaks of 96 to 102dB

A 2 watt Amplifier with 99dB sensitivity driver will achieve concert level volumes in home ambience

And don’t mistake dB with ability of any tube amp to drive a speaker. Look at the speaker impedance plots. If it does not dip too low, a 1 watter tube amp can drive it pretty loud. My 1.5 watt 45 tube amp drives my 88dB bookshelves to very loud levels at just 40% volume.
