Hello Experts,

Need your suggestions in setting up an entry level Home Theater system.I am following most of threads but wanted advice on specific models wrt to price. My usage will 80 percent Movies + TV rest for some Internet Radio/Music Etc

Speakers:- BA XS 5.1 (23.5K) -> Pls suggest any alternatives in the same price range.

A/V Receiver(Now that's the toughest one!) I am currently in Shanghai, hence getting good deals on receivers(without India warranty of course)

Network AVR's

1.Marantz NR1604(35.5 K)
2.Pioneer 823-K (22.5 K)
3.Yamaha V477(28.5K)
4.Denon X1000(25K)

Non Network AVR's
1.Pioneer 524-K (17.5 K)
2.Maratnz NR1403(19.7 K)
3.Yamaha V377(18.7 K)
4.Denon X500 (18 K)

Pls let me know if a WIFI/networks Blue Ray player will cover up for a non network based AVR's? Is the combination correct or it should be vice versa?I have a pretty mixed ecosystem consisting of Apple,MS & Android products, hence have flexibility towards that.

Thanks & Rgds,
Arnab

I would order it the same way in terms of preference. See if you can get a Onkyo. This is also very nice.

Network players have certain limitations, so going for a networked receiver is a better idea.

Cheers

Thanks Venkat. Is there any particular Onkyo model you can suggest? Also I have heard there are quality issues with Onkyo,Is that true?

If I don't have the budget for a network AVR,which of the Non Network AVR's from the above list will you recommend?

Then Maratnz NR1403 will be a good deal as I heard good reviews regarding this AVR.

May I know the difference between network and non-network receivers ??

Network based AVR's are basically those with at-least a Ethernet Port. Many high end AVR's have built-in WIFI. Some AVR's can be made WIFI using special Adapters.

The major disadvantage which I can see with Non-Network based AVR's is the non availability of firmware updates. It has to be taken to a service center for the same.Similarly network dependent DLNA is not supported, also stuff like Airplay/WIFI direct is not available.

Thanks.

You should but the AV that sounds the best rather than the Network Options . Airplay ( for Audio ) is very easy to add on any Receiver . I am using a Rs 2500 buck Airmusic Receiver on my entry level YHT-299 with good results.
Connect a Good Mediaplayer and you will have enormous Fun and Flexibility .

I like the sound of Onkyo over all other receivers. I am not sure about quality. I did have issues with my monster, but my son has been enjoying an Onkyo without any issues.

In terms of models, you should go for one that has max power for the budget you can afford.

Maybe others can pitch in.

Thanks
