Hi Friends,

I got a Emerson GXT MT+ 2KL (2KV) online UPS through a member here. It was not supplied with batteries, the UPS is supplied with a cable to connect to external batteries.

Now I am confused what type of battery is required ?

As per the manual, the following is the recommendation for battery

Battery Type: SMF
No. of Battery Blocks: 6 (in serial)
Battery Voltage: 72Vdc

As per the member, regular Tubular Batteries will work fine. Should I get the regular tubular batteries used in inverters or should I get a SMF battery and which one ?

Please buy only the recommended batteries & not something that is non-standard or not recommended.

It would be wise to get the recommended Ah rating for batteries from Emerson. SMF like tubular is also available in different capacities. If you put much larger batteries, the UPS may not supply enough current to charge them properly.

You need six 12V batteries in series to make it 72V. When using larger batteries, ensure that the ups can supply enough current to charge it properly.

I think these are the correct specs for the model

Battery Charger :

Nominal Voltage - Float (LB Model) : 110 Vdc
Maximum Charging Current - STD./LB : 1A - STD and 8A - LB

No. of Battery Blocks: 6 x 7 Ah
Battery Voltage: 96 Vdc (8 battery blocks)

If look at Inverter batteries, how do I find the charging capacity ?

Ok, as per discussion with different sales rep, it seems I would have to purchase

8 x 12V 42ah SMF batteries for ~ 1 hour backup at approx Rs. 3500 each

Or

8 x 12V 26ah SMF batteries for ~30 mins backup at approx Rs. 2200 each

BTW, how do you connect different components to the back of the UPS, coz it has those male sockets only
