External Sound Card for Lenevo T400? Output will go to Onkyo3300

Hello friends

Can some please help me in finding which external sound card should i buy for my Lenovo T400 laptop?

Objective: Connect the laptop with my newly bought Onkyo 3300 and Sony Bravia NX500. I do not have a DVD/BD player as of now.

My T400 doesnt have an HDMI port. It is not doing justice with the Onkyo or with the HD content i play. The best way i could think to get a true 5.1 sound output is to get an external sound card.

First things first, is this a good idea? Is so then any suggesitons on which sound card should i buy?

Well USB soundcard can output DD/Dts.I am not sure that one can get SC with HDMI out for laptop.

Get a USB dac with Digital and Optical Toslink output... Something like Beresford Caimen..Please go thru some DAC related threads... You can get an idea.

See this option can output only DD/Dts & not HD-audio.So if you need to enjoy 3300 truely,then need HDMI out.There is expensive way to use Desktop SC with LApy which I wrote here-
