Mods,
I hope its fine to start a new thread seeking help to finalise out of these 2 Models of Panasonic

50ST50 (Demoed 50XT50 and was impressed)
55ET5D (Demoed 47ET5D but could not decide on 3D quality)

I have been posting in some related thread but since I am planning to order tomorrow, I though I would get a quick attention here.

My main content consumption shall be HD Movies (from Airtel HD DTH, Blu Ray/DVD, Media Streamer), I am definitely planning to consume 3D content too as often as it is available. I occasionally watch TV serials on few HD and SD (very limited) Channels.

50ST50 I have an offer of Rs. 1 lakh approx and 55ET5D Rs. 1.32 lakh approx.

Though my inclination is towards larger screen size, I am ready to forgo 5" if 55 incher would have any performance issues specially in 3D content.

Experts, please help this final push also if the deals look okay!

If you are able to take good care of plasma (Prevent Image Retention and Burn-in), I will anyday recommend to sacrifice the 5", save the 32K and go for 50ST50.

Ingore 3D. Take it as some necessary side effect of the pill. But passive 3D is more comfortable to active 3D - at least to me. I don't like 3D - not even the great Avatar, except maybe a few animation movies and documentaries.

Fortunately I could check demo of 55ET5D and 50XT50 at another Showroom an hour back only, I must admit XT50 was really good I cant imagine the quality of ST50 :)

At the same time LED 55ET5D was little brighter and deviated from the very true colors as compared to the Plasma 50XT50. 3D was a very good experience on LED with passive glasses.. much comfortable and bearable.

HD was superb as such in both as compared to equivalents in LG and Samsung.

SD as expected was still good in XT50 but not so good in ET

More or less I am deciding on 55ET5D and have asked Dealer to give me offer tomorrow with best rate. What kind of offer should I press for which is practical and achievable?

Thanks so much to this superb forum

By the way the primary reason of going for 55ET5D is the larger screen size and comparably better performance and price than equivalents in Samsung and LG

steer away from X50/XT50, not that great............go with ST50, brilliant performer. I totally agree with what just4kix has said.

Thanks to both of you :)

Yes if I finalise 50 incher its nothing but ST50 in any case, since the dealers dint have ST50 I demoed XT50

Feeling nervous about 55EE5D now .. haha :p

you now enjoy a better viewing experience but will also experience less eye fatigue.

Great choice.. both are good TV.. if you can afford go for the bigger one.. I have seen 55ET5D.. though not the 3D PQ.. if you are expecting lot of 3D viewing then have a proper demo with various 3D movies.. animation, regular etc.. 50ST50 is a no brainer as one can figure out from various posting in the forum.. a brilliant all rounder..

As agreed XT50 amazed me, ST would have been top of everything ... I have still decided to settle with 55ET5D :) ... primarily because I wanted a large screen and I really do not mind compromising a bit on PQ as compared to Plasma.

The TV should be installed in some time

Do I need to get it professionally calibrated or would the experts (really they are) could help with some magical settings?

Actually it is always the case, people praise plasma's but eventually settle for and lcd/led/passive 3d.;)

Have a nice time with the beautiful big TV.:clapping:

Dear ankitbhargava,
Kindly share your experience of Panasonic L55ET5D TV .

I got a price of Rs.1.10 lac with 3 years warranty .

I found the colours a bit deviating from true . But if settings can resolve it .

Your feedbacks can help me take a decision .

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
