Received the ELAC Uni- Fi this morning. Still in the breaking in period. Initial impression is the bass being much better than the Wharf 10.1 they have replaced. Aesthetics are bland and the vinyl wrap is quite delicate at the sharp corners. Will post after a breaking in period on my two amps.

Current setup is a mijix x8h to optical splitter to DIY quad Wolfson 8740 dac to DIY Pass B1 to DIY myref gainclone to elac. With try using the same with the modified norge 1000 gold and yamaha 675 avr.

My only problem is that the myref was designed for 8 ohm loads while the elac is four ohms so can't play at full blast.

Early adopter:). Is it available in India now? Or did you get it imported?

Cool. have you heard the B5's? If so can you give your comparison feedback?

No I have not heard the b5 and the price difference of b5 procured from india and this one was only 10k. So uni- fi is better than the b6 which is better than the b5. So I thought why not buy this one as one does not upgrade speakers as often.

How are the highs in the Unifi? Can you compare them to the B6? However, I feel impedance of 4ohms will render most of the receivers non eligible. Maybe some high end ones can go that low, else 6ohms is what I have commonly seen.

Would you be Okay to share the final cost?

The woofer and midrange cones are aluminium cone while the concentric silk dome tweeter in really good. I am very sensitive to irritating high frequencies however the highs are there without being obviously forward. The midrange is expansive and the lows go deep down upto 48 hz. In some passages you feel as if there is a 8 to 10 inch powered subwoofer hidden somewhere.
This is when l am playing with the myref which delivers around 48w rms per channel. Will drive them with my 100w amp tomorrow and see any differences.

That setup will have the ODAC to the norge 1000 gold to the elacs.

Those recievers that have a function of connecting two speakers to the front left and right channels ie biwirable one can at least drive one 4 ohm speaker. One should however not try to play at insanely high volumes.

Hi Audiodoc,

I would really appreciate if you let us know your impressions about the speakers after burn in, and compare it with other speakers you have heard.
