hi, just got these speakers.
will up date all the details once listening impressions completes
finally got a good offer on FOCAL 836 V,bite the bullet.
received those speakers.
they are massive, each 30 kg and tall.my wife helped me to unpacking them. its a two peoples job.comes with heavy duty cast iron bases and adjustable spikes.
the speakers have two bass reflex ports at front and one at the bottom, because it has its own plinth the placement is not a big problem.
unpacked the monsters and bases fixed and kept beside my trusty JBL L112.
Source is OPPO BDP 83SE,Preamp is vintage Philips AH280 and pioneer SA 9800 power amp input as power amp.
only two channel music was played with out sub woofer.
listening impressions;
treble is very fine, not any over sharp, just perfect.
mid bass is very very good.soft punchy sound more like to listen than the neutral side.i am not thinking it is a specifications speaker.it is a musical speaker.
the sound is highly enjoyable.very crystal clear highs.highly enjoyable bass.very tight, precise and quick bass from the three woofers.
no window rattling, just thumping bass hitting on your chest which makes your foot tapping.
finally i am enjoying every moment with my new speakers.they are not warm as my vintage jbl L112,But the sound is highly enjoyable.both are leaders in their own areas.

temp my JBL moved to my bedroom.

Congrats krell . with careful pairing it could bring up the mids. IMO it requires slightly warmer, analog like source and a neutral amplication

Congrats Krell.... The speakers look very good.... How much did you finally pay for these speakers.....

Looks like they are demanding speakers... They drop to 3 Ohms impedance.....

thanks i am driving them with sansui au717 in power amp mode.
i hope the sansui will drive them ease, because the vibrating bass from sansui amp is highly addictive, it is difficult for me to go for another brand.
but will try a power amp soon.:)

JBLs got a sweet spot in my heart. may be they will be with me.if any chances i will definitely let you know.
the vintage JBLs sound is like drugs, once you addicted then it is very difficult to come out without treatment.thats the reason they are still commanding very high prices in EBay,especially the 12"bass driver putting a heavy punch in your belly.any how if i let it go i will inform you.thanks for your intrest.:)

yes, because i see the temp of the amp is increasing.before with jbl l112 the amp is dead cool.
today i will pair with them with ONKYO TX NR906 in bridged channels mode, will see how the heavy power drives them.

Oops Sorry.. I wasn't aware that AVR have bridged mode.... Per the specs Onkyo 906 looks like a terrific AVR with plenty of power & very good internal DAC.....Should be interesting pairing....

I think even 818 have the bridged mode, but not sure. please check

Congratulations on these monsters. If you don't mind could you please mention the price?

I have the older and smaller 706s and can only wonder how much better these would sound!

For us Music is like a Medicine :-), So spending on these beauties would be a Health care activity and not categorize to any other genre :-)

But your new Beauties really so glamorous with plenty of Drivers.
+Sansui AU717 Then can't dive only the Big Trucks and Hummer i believe and everything listed as Speaker they should drive them crazy.

All the best, I pray got to keep you away from Upgrade Bug say at least for few Years
