Does not work for me. I tried to login with Paypal id and it says I must update account details in Paypal site first. In Paypal site only things missing were items like bank details which are required to receive money.

That is common way. They will verify you Bank details once you provide them. They will deposit small amount & confirm that you received it.Then you can use Paypal account easily.

I think it is the same as aramex or borderlinx sites. Once you register they give you the US address and you can either use this address to book the items directly from the merchant site or give the details of the item in the hopshopgo site and they will do the rest of booking on behalf of you.

One thing which I noticed is that they are not specifying the customs/excise duty charges in the calculator utility when I tried it yesterday. It just shows the shipping charges from the US to India and not even to your local address.

But why? I am not going to receive money. And they ask us to fill purpose code which makes no meaning to do just verification. Why should I fill a false purpose code?

I pay using my credit card, that should be all verification they need.

Can someone tell me how much it will cost me if I try to ship about 25 pounds from Southern California to Bangalore, I tried to use the paypal site but was unsuccessful....

Thanks

Vinod

I too faced the same problem and there is too much procedure and i gave up. I used PPOBOX from ishopinternational and the last couple of transactions have been smooth and received the item within one week. All these services work on similar lines and Ishop appears to be professional.

How is that even remotely possible. You can buy 1000s of products weighing less than 1 kg. Will they ship to India from US, FREE?? Unlimited till 31st Dec?? :licklips:

the site has a lot of hidden charges. Btw any1 who is regular in online purchase can easily make out what they R trying to market. Only 1 package upto 1 kg is free till 1 kg. Moreover if you buy lots of stuff and try to merge then they have repackaging fees. Another thing to consider is volumetric weight. I am a regular user of s&s but I thought let me use the offer to get a package for free, it seems to me that I will be regretting my decision though

Thanks for the heads up. I was considering using this shipper.

Has any HFV member made a purchase from them?

I would like to get a couple of products but not sure of their services.

Okies, so I have used their services (though items have not arrived yet) but its decent only with the promo code mentioned in the OP. Ordered a few Blu-Rays in 2 different order. Each weighing below .5Kg each but they showed up as 1.5Kg and 1.0 Kg based on their volumetric weight. Which made Shipping Cost as 35$ overall at which point it was a big waste of money for me (overall worth of Blu-Rays being around 65$).

But after applying the Promo Code the total came down to around 12$ making the effort and tension somewhat worthwhile (do note that ideally, it would have been free if volumetric weight was not considered)

To re-iterate some of the questions asked above,

The shipping doesnt show point-to-point charges. It just shows 'US to India'.

And the rates are ridiculously low :D

For a 15 kg package, the hopshopgo rate was about 118 USD, which is half that of shopandship. So it's a sweet deal, provided there are no caveats.

Is there anybody who has just executed a shipment through either hopshopgo or shopandship? Can he walk us through the entire process? I have a few queries:

1) for Hopshopgo, at which stage during the ordering process can we see the ENTIRE POINT TO POINT AMOUNT with additional taxes/ customs duties etc.?
2) Is this charged in advance or on delivery like shopandship?
3) Is there any paperwork required from our side for customs clearance in India prior to ordering, or do they take care of everything?

1) At no point of time does either Hopshopgo or shopandship show the entire amount. Customs Duties etc would have to be paid when delivery is made. What they show online are only the shipping charges from US/UK to India.
2) i) For hopshopgo shipping charges has to be in advance.
ii) For S&S you have both the option of paying shipping charges online or on delivery.
3) i) For S&S you have to send the Invoice through mail, based on which custom clearance is done.
ii) Hopshopgo calculates it based on the invoice which is on the package itself.

Now one thing in favor of S&S is that there is no volumetric weight that is ever considered. With hopshopgo they consider volumetric weight and as mentioned before you might consider 18kg charges are very less but maybe you will be surprised when they charge you for 50kg based on volumetric weight. Basically do read up on their volumetric weight policy before ordering with hopshopgo.

Hi, thanks.

Regarding your point on volumetric weight, both Borderlinx and Hopshopgo allow you to plug in the dimensions of the box as well as the weight into the calculator.

With the appropriate weight and dimensions plugged in, the Onkyo 616 receiver would cost $118 on HSG and about $136 on borderlinx. Now I'm assuming that since we've input the dimensions as well into the calculator, this would be the accurate shipping cost considering volumetric weight, and I wouldnt be in for a nasty shock on delivery! (I can understand a few dollars here and there). SnS as you said, doesnt consider volumetrics, and gave an output of $218 for the said weight!

Am I missing something, or is HSG the clear choice here?
