Hi all ...

I have a querry ....

Do we have any good options on full HD LCD TV sets in 26" or thereabouts ....

I am planning to attach it to console ... (PS3/Xbox) for gaming and thats why i need them to be full HD to have the max effect of the graphics ....

Would appreciate the responses or suggestions ....

Thx.

Don't know about TV but you do get a BenQ 26" LCD monitor which is Full HD, with inferior TN panel (though TN has very good response times, hence good for gaming).
As for 26" LCD TV I don't know if you get them, because the funda is that you don't notice difference between HD and HD ready in small size screens.
Most of the console games are 720p (ie HD Ready). A normal TV will suffice, unless you are planning to connect a PC for gaming.

Can you tell me if this TV has component inputs or not?

I have a 23" LG Monitor TV. It has a Full HD TN panel, 2 HDMI Inputs, VGA Input, DVI Input, composite input, RF input and component inputs. The component inputs even support a 1080p resolution with a PS3, but the quality is significantly lower than that from the HDMI inputs.

This is primarily used as a computer monitor, but I have used it a few times as a TV and for gaming with the PS3. I do face quality issues when running this TV/Monitor via HDMI from a computer, which goes away if I use a HDMI->DVI cable.

I too have an LG monitor TV which is 21.5 inches in size with all the inputs you mentioned, but the component input is faulty, screen goes on and off abruptly, I contacted several times the service center and the techguy over there says that my ps2 and ps3 are faulty! It can't get more frustrating than this. I stopped calling them, stopped using my ps2 (though many games I haven't touched yet and want to play desperately) and got a ps3 and am using it with hdmi, which works flawlessly, thank GOD. I am planning to sell this tv off now. All the inputs are perfect except for component which very few use in India. Besides its doesn't bother all the time but you know while gaming if it goes off and on at a crucial stage, how much frustrating that is. So I am planning to buy this philips 24pfl5505 which has no reviews on the internet and its a model which has been launched only in India. I wonder in such a big crowd, no one has cared to make a review on this tv. I should be starting a blog for such monitors and tvs now, so that it would help people like me.

Anyways, the thing is that no one knows whether this philips model has a component input or not and whether it can output 1920x1080 resolution while it is connected to my PC. The website and the letsbuy.com page mentions the max resolution to be 1280x1024 which would make the pc look really disgusting on a 24 inch screen!

So please if somebody has seen this tv anywhere, please clear up my doubts.
Thanks in advance.

1080p resolution (full HD) for a TV less than 32" will be an overkill. Only when you are using it as a computer monitor you will be able to see the difference.

Hi
I have an old LG 32" Plasma & new Samsung 40" HD LCD, I use ordinary cable input thru settop box, my Plasma gives a very clear & good picture while this so called latest series 5 HD TV clarity is very poor what could be the problem does it need proper setup?

Almost all PS3 and Xbox games are 720 p, no Xbox360 game support 1080p natively and just a couple of Ps3 games support 1080p and they are PSN games (i.e low budget downloadable games with not so great graphics except Gran Turismp) so if u want to use the TV just for these consoles, then there is not point going for 1080p TV.

Opt for 720p 26 inch tv that would be cheaper and there will be no change in PQ.

Go for 1080p only if u want to connect ur Gaming PC. :)

My monitor works fine with the PS3 and its component outputs. My brother got a cheap non Sony branded PS3 component cable that works fine at upto 720p resolution. It does work at 1080p, but the PQ is not as good as it is when used at 720p. So this does not seem to be a LG specific problem.

If your monitor is under warranty, then make sure that LG fixes the problem for you. Try a different service center. And since it is a 21.5" model, you can carry it yourself to a service center yourself. Escalate this problem to LG's corporate office and see if you get any better response. Most of the service centers are not run by the company itself, but by a third party provider and they sometimes do screw up.
