hmm but the Grod still stands a good selling point

1. USB dac way : may be ok idea but ipods/old androids dont do a OTG so no use for them
2. Diy : i wil prefer but do but most people wont ..
u know much pain it takes to box a device that looks decent .. ?
most people wont want a lab setup like thingy in the living room

reg the audio quality u dont want big magic ... but for say movie avr etc it is a handy device(if offered as less cost)., if you wanted to add ipod/phone playback

If you want me to get an PCB for this then it wont be bigger than 1cm X 1cm + space for connectors. This is good amp but B1 is advanced version with constant current source added to it.

Hi,
I appreciate the interest here about the G-ROD audio Cable MicroAmp. You obviously understand the need for such a device. Dano at beavishifi does an excellent job explaining the need the device and the Beavis J-FET preamp is a good low cost solution to the problem if you have the technical skills to make it.

The G-ROD mini preamplifier is already made; it is designed to be as small and versatile as possible, made with high quality components. You will need to provide USB source for power.

Measured Specs: Distortion < 0.01%, Signal to noise ratio > 100dB, Gain 25 dB, Maximum Audio Input 116 mV (?16dBu), Output 2.9V (11.5dBu), Input power 5VDC Micro?USB, Power consumption 50mW, Dimensions: 5.84 x 2.54 x 1.27 cm.

I understand the price is high; it will come down when I can make these in high quantities, but it is available.

I built this yesterday for a friend. He is amazed at the difference in SQ. I quote from the article which is spot on:
The end result? A great sounding boost. Not earth-shattering volume as would be realized in an active (opamp or transistor) circuit, but all of the mush was gone. Bass and treble were both significantly enhanced, and the sound improvement was pretty dramatic for a passive circuit.
