Saw this for sale in India, interesting.

Watched some videos of the type-A on youtube, seeing the changer work for 78rpm records was a visual treat. However as with all the Garrards, the speed at which the tonearm returns after playing a side, is related to the rpm setting chosen, hence the tonearm really jerks and flies, for 78rpm.

I saw this as well Reuben. But what do you reckon of buying such Vintage TTs from the Internet/dealers when we don't even know the person. Buying from the Internet when you know the person and also recommended from friends is a good approach. Imm sure the deal on the website will be quite expensive. To me this is a commercial sale. Auditioning such pieces in person will be they key to a good purchase I guess.

Agree, while buying pre-used turntables, one must inspect in person. If one is not knowledgeable, taking along a knowledgeable friend would help. Apart from overall functionality, there are some simple checkpoints to run through while purchasing a TT. Pricing on all turntables these days tends to be over the top, thanks to google. Our forum is very safe in that area because we all know each other (even if its virtually) and most of us are like-minded individuals, not commercial brokers or vendors.
