Hello Team ,

Let me be honest

I am no tech manh and i have absolutely no idea about any metric that is discussed here in the forum except for the size of a LCD/LED TV which is easier to understand.

So here goes the scene - i am aware that the tv electronics in dubai are far far cheaper almost 50% of the price in india.

I really dont know which LCD / LED tv To buy - so i went through cnet.com and narrowed down on 2 model.please let me know if i am doing the right thing cause i have narrowed it down based on the editors choice.l:ohyeah:

Panasonic TC-PST50 series or Panasonic TC-PVT50

so its depends on your feedback gadget gurus - if i get a nod from you- next week i will have a brand new TV @ Home.

gosh i am so excited and i am very much looking forward to your feedback.

Hi, you have undoubtedly made the perfect choice. Panasonic makes some of the best plasma's available today and their 2012 tv's have even surpassed their 2011 tv's in terms of performance. The series go like this..........
X, XT, U, UT : non neo pdp panel
S, ST, G, GT, V, VT : neo pdp panel + infinite black
suggest to go with any of the above models that support neo pdp panel. The VT50 recently was crowned as "King of HDTV" in a tv shoot out to determine the BEST tv of 2012. You can't go wrong with any of them.......ST, GT or VT.

Hi panasonic makes the best plasmas and you wont go wrong with any of the two. You can also consider GT model which is positioned between ST and VT.

well i jus follow cnet.com blindly - i hv absolutely no idea what neo php means or any of the tech terms u use.

all i am concerned about is the cost.what would be cost of it in dubai.
if the variation is nt much i might aswell buy it in india and save on customs

Re: Getting a LCD/LED/Plasma TV from Dubai

Hi All,
I am returning to India via Dubai. I was planning to buy my first HDTV for living room. I found in this very forum that HDTV price is much cheaper in Dubai.

Keeping the viewing distance in mind (actually it would be 8 to 9 feet) I've decided to go ahead with 42 inch plasma.

I've shortlisted the following models:
Panasonic P42ST30
Panasonic P42ST50
Panasonic P42GT30
Panasonic P42GT50
or if budget permits in dubai then,
Panasonic P50ST30

1. Could anyone please let me know the price details for the above models in Dubai duty free stores?
2. Will I get 3 years panasonic warranty in India if I buy it from Dubai (this might sound a bit stupid, but I really need to know)?
3. How much custom duty (approx) do I need to pay for 42 or 50 inch tv?
4. Is it safe to carry plasma tv from Dubai to india? I am asking because I heard that plasma glass is prone to break.
5. Can I carry it with me as extra luggage (I am flying with Emirates)?
6. If not, the can the duty free shop ship the tv to my location in India (Kolkata)?
7. Finally, will it be a good idea to buy tv from dubai?

Waiting for your reply.

--------------------------------EDIT-----------------------------------
DROPPING THE IDEA. AS I'VE GOT SOME VALUABLE SUGGESTION FROM HERE.

Since you follow cnet blindly..............here is another site even better than cnet for tv's, have a look:
FlatpanelsHD - Guide to flat panel TVs & monitors
If interested, the reviews are more detailed and exhaustive.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
