Hi,

I am totally blank about various brands and models of entry level home theater systems.

I want to install home theater for my 51 inch Samsung Plasma TV.
I will be using HT mainly for Hollywood or action packed movies.
My budget is around 30k, plus minus 10 % max.

I only that Yamaha, JBL, Onkyo, Pioneer are considered better systems than Sony, Phillips, Samsung or LG as far as audio equipment are concerned.

Can somebody suggest home theater for my requirement.

Thank you in advance.

2 options : Denon 1312XP and Onky0 HT-S3500
Try to demo both and then decide. Please do not go for consumer brands like sony, samsung, lg, etc.........when it comes to audio. They are kings in making tv's not in audio.

Denon 1312xp is out of life and so go for Onkyo HT-S3500 but don't know how the service is for Onkyo. Go for Harmon Kardon, i listen to it and it is good. Since i didn't try other systems like Yamaha, Onkyo, Denon i can't say about them. If you are living in Bangalore or Mumbai i think you can audition them. I am unfortunate to live in Chennai for past 1 and half an year.

You can go seperate avr + speaker. You can go either Yamaha or pioneer avr. On ebay yamaha 371 is available for 18K or pioneer 521 is for 18500. For speaker you can consider JBL SCS 140BK / JBL SCS 200.5./ Canton Movie 85 CX 2. On Amazon.de all these available near to 15K.

Following HTiB makers have singular products in their range. Remember two things though:

1. The brands are entry level audiophile ones. Much better than consumer brands like Sony Samsung LG Panasonic Phillips Sharp etc.

2. You will need to purchase a source (DVD or BluRay player) separately as those will contain only speakers and AVR with stock cables which however are not the first choice of audiophiles.

So following should be your look outs.....

1. ONKYO
2. DENNON
3. HERMAN KARDON / JBL
4. YAMAHA

I would like to recommend you Onkyo-3500 if your movie buff, since i own this product for last 4 months.. Please go through the demo once before buying . you ll surely enjoy the experience

Thank a lot guys for your replies.
But it is all confusing when I read reviews of each system on Amazon.com
What about separate components like mentioned by Rajdeep and HifiMahesh with particular models.

Separates at that budget will be tough. Its better to go for a HTIB especially if its for TV, DTH and DVDs. I have been using an Onkyo HTIB for a few years with Tata Sky and for watching DVDs and the experience is good and I've had no issues whatsoever.

Consider either Onkyo or Yamaha HTIBs. Stay away from Sony, Pioneer, etc.

Hows your 51" Sammy performing Silk? Share a detailed review & Its been long since you posted its pictures (I think you did that in 1st couple of days)...

Yes, Sorry about that. Actually I was on tour for some days then due to heavy work schedule, I couldn't get enough time to check all features. I have not watched any movie apart from "A Lonely Place to Die". I have this movie on 700 MB compressed mp4 file. I really enjoyed the movie even on that kind of format.

Frankly I do not have Blu-ray yet so I have not really evaluated real quality as of today. I have checked some clips of 3D version 1.5 GB of "Wrath of Titans" and found that 3D is ok, not so great. But again I must compare it with retail version of Blu-ray qaulity of this movie.

Now that is the reason I am getting feedback form guys about the HT around 30K. But as I told you, I don't find single package, like Onkyo 3500, Yamaha 296 etc, received positive feedback.

Today I got recommendation for Yamaha RX 371 + JBL 200.5 for 42K in Pune.
I will buy Blu-ray at the time of purchasing the system.

What do you think about it? Will it be ok? Is it a good price? It is above my budget so I am just holding for now.

PS: By the way, Samsung E550 is suitable only in dimmed rooms. In a day light you really can't see anything. There is no problem after 7 PM when sun sets. You can avoid Tube light reflection.
