Good news for vinyl Lovers

Yipppppeeeee. Got the LP's of silsila, kabhi kabhi, pakeezah, mughal e azam, paakeezah-rang barang. So now I finally have 'peeke chale' in the format it was meant to be in !

Does anybody has contacts in HMV (saregama) ? Can you please request them to come up with new release of LEKIN.
I am very positive that this would sound awesome on Vinyl.

I have Lekin LP from its original release in 1991 - (Though i bought it only a year or so back, from a second hand shop, but in extremely good quality).

You are right! It sounds awesome!

i got the same LPs yesterday but was very disappointed to listen to Kabhi Kabhi. It sounded like a MOno recording. For some time i thought there was aproblem with my TT and played other LPs from my collection and the set-up was all right but the LP of Kabhi Kabhi is badly recorded. Did others have similar experience?

It sounds like shit because it's the same digital master they use for the crappy CDs they produce. They then ship it to Pallas in Germany- the pressings are fine, but the masterings are clearly not- so how would it sound even halfway decent?

I had pre-booked with flipkart so may be I will get it by the month-end.

bro did you ever try for the Silsila older pressing? such beautiful recording. Moreover a used very good condition Silsila should not cost you more than 200/-.The newly released records are too costly for me, specially those whose older pressings are still avbl easilty. Anyway hope you will hv a great time with them, filpkart will deliver perfectly, one of the best online service providers in India

totally agree with AKD. it is better to go for original pressing given that they are easily available. and are much cheaper. As for the sound, hindi soundtracks like Ghar or Golmal on 45rmp are some of the best sounding records i have ever heard. sheer beauty.

thankfully to my dad i still have in great condition Pakeeja, Mughal e azam (and many more) in the original pressing. MEZ is a 3 disc set because its with dailogs. awesome

Mughal E Azam was the one that I felt was really bad, in terms of sound (not music, that is awesome!) ... is this from the re-done latest colored version one?!! I suspiciously think it is. Wish they'd brought out from the original analag recording.

I got the released versions of Kabhi Kabhie & Gems from Tagore Vol. 2. What disappointed me most was that there were lot of visible particles on the records and there are some amount of static noise - unusual thing to have in a brand new record. About the quality of recording - nothing to write home about it.

Is this feedback going to Saregama (HMV) that their mastering is depressing vinyl lovers? Gradually, people will stop buying it, and then they'll say there is no market for it... without realizing the real reason for the drop?!!

They've definitely not dug out the analog master tapes and shipped them to Germany for any of these. These are all from 16/44 digital masters done god knows how many years ago, and for the new AR Rahman ones, from 24/96 (I hope, will try to run spectral analysis if I can get around to doing it).
