Hi,
Greetings to all...I am new to this forum. Infact I landed up on this forum accidentally when I searching for Home Theatre systems and was amazed to see such wealth of information.

Infact I am a total novice when it comes to home theatre.. Just dont know how to go about it. Like any layman I was checking out popular brands such as Sony, Phillips, Panasonic and to my surprise found in some discussions that they were least in priority even for entry level HT...
Recently got to know about Onkyo, Denon etc..

Hoping to find some guideline for me to choose my first entry level HT. My budget is about 25k to 35k. Usage 40% music & 60% movies

Regards
Sai

Welcome to HFV. For 25K you can consider Onkyo 3400. It consists of an AV Receiver and 5.1 Speaker system. In addition you will also need a blu-ray player if you want to watch BR disks. If you watch only downloaded movies, then a HD media player is best.

Thanks for the warm welcome.. Just today I got to know about Onkyo 3300.. After I saw your post checked out the website and got to know that Onkyo 3400 is the latest addition. Called up for the price and it looks to be about 26K.

Wont a blu-ray cost a bomb? Any suggestions on a multi-disc dvd player and HD media player.

In HD Media I was looking at Western Digital and Seagate.. Was quite undecided then when I was researching them...

Just called up another Onkyo dealer. He was talking of a custom combination unlike 3400..
HT3400 is about 25K..
308 Amplifier with Pure Acoustics Dream Nano Speakers . Total Cost of 35k..

Welcome to hfv, onkyo 3400 suits your budget with sony 370 bluray player, what tv do you use?sony ,panasonic,lg,samsung htib which is currently available in market dont have high definition audio processing like dts ma,dolby digital hd,if you choose onkyo it would be future proof,....surly it will sound better than sonys and samsungs.

Well I need to buy an LCD TV too.. I was toggling between Sony or Samsung.. Again a layman's take.. Do you have any suggestions? Not looking at LED as its quite expensive.. Plan to go for 40'' LCD

For your budget and listening preference, Onkyo 3400 is best suited. Bargain hard. Some members have bought it for as low as 22.5K

Blu-Ray players are now available for around 8K but the disks are very costly. It is better to buy a media player now and buy BR player later. For media players, you should also consider Kaiboer 1055+. This model has built in slot for internal HDD and supports almost all media files. It is available for around 4.5K
