Recently I found my HDMI OUT port of Marantz NR1402 not working.
I called one local service person to fix it. He said, I will have to replace the whole board and which costs around Rs.12000/- & advised me to use optical port of my WDTV media player to my amplifier for audio and hdmi output of media player directly to TV.

Fine, this works OK. But the facility of selecting inputs and display of amplifier settings etc. can not be viewed.

Since replacing the whole HDMI board is very costly proposal, is there any way to repair the board ? Has any forum members experienced such situation and what was the solution?

After searching on net, I understand that there are few capacitors of 100MFD/4V which go bad and cause the problem. Any body having idea about it? and where can I get the capacitors if I decide to replace them?

hello,
I am also in the same boat but with different equipment. my kenwood avr input selection micro controller is working on its own mind. some times it lock on the signal sometime not. did some research found out the issue is with the caps around the micro controller. But could not find a person here in chennai who can check the capacitors n replace them.

Hope u can find someone in your city.
thank you.

I asked the service person to find out the exact cost of the HDMI board of Marantz. He checked and told me it is Rs.17000/- plus labour charges and will take 2 months to get it !!!

I had purchased the amplifier for Rs.25000/-, some 3 years ago from HIFIMART.
Charging Rs.17000/- for the board is loot by Marantz. And I think this is true with all brands.

At the most 3 to 5K may be reasonable.

HDMI board of my Denon AVR 1611 has also gone bad.
The service center quoted appx 18-20K for new board and even that was out of stock!
Then I replaced few capacitors (470u, 100u and 10u) on that board. But still it is not working.

@ anurag
I have not yet tried replacing the capacitors as I don't know, where to get the correct items. If you have tried, then can you share where you got the capacitors from and cost for the same.

At present, I am using the AVR as described in my starting post and satisfied with the performance. However the convenience/pleasure of switching sources using HDMI is missing.

Since the cost of replacement of HDMI board is frightfully expensive, I have decided to go ahead with my present arrangement. May be I will use hdmi switcher, which is available online for around Rs.350/- It is manually operated and lazy person like me will have to get up and switch sources.:p

Profx had quoted 18k odd for my Denon 1909's HDMI board. In fact, they were kind of pushing me for an upgrade.

I got the board replaced outside for around 7k. No issues!

This is how I used to use my previous receiver which did not have HDMI pass through. I had connected all my sources to the available Optical and Coaxial Inputs and HDMI directly to the TV. Muting the TV was needed when I used to switch on the receiver.

Spending 17k for a board change is not worth it, you may try exchanging the receiver for a newer model or selling it to someone for who HDMI out is not so important.

The capacitors are not expensive (will cost Rs 5-10 each). You can try sourcing them from local electronic spare parts shops, or from Lamington road in Mumbai if feasible.

Have the same problem with my Onkyo, When using HDMI thru amp TV says resolution low, but connecting component cable all is fine.
suspect HDMI board

I would recommend "Shop Jimmy" to search for HDMI boards. Might be cheaper to import and simply fix it yourself.

Anyway all those service centre's do is swap the boards, you guys do not have to pay for that as it should be a reasonably easy job.

If you guys want to check it out here is the link:

https://www.shopjimmy.com/

Tried the website but access is denied.

I am sorry guys I am also getting access denied. I do not know why. I used to use this site for all spares. They had tons and tons and tons of spares. Any IT tech guy can tell us the reason? Because if we have access, it is a veritable gold mine of spare parts at reasonable prices.

Same here, with my Yamaha RX-V677. The receiver doesn't detect anything on the HDMI out port (a red HDMI Out shows on the front display when it does, i think).

Where do i get this replaced in Delhi? Any suggestions?
