Headphone for AVR Surround Sound

Hi friends..
I'm using Marantz SR7005. At present it is connected to stereo speakers. SR7005 have Dolby Headphone out. I want to listen 5.1 surround sound through headphones. Pls suggest a good Headphone capable of producing surround effect.

any headphone should work - since the processing of pseudo surround is done by receiver.
what is your budget? Plus you may like base heavy phones for movie watching

the surround effect as stated will be produced by the receiver and then sent to the headphones... so anything as far as it gets connected would do..

however the surround effect will be more effective if you take pick open cans... but then you will loose out on base ..

if you are looking for base heavy look for closed headphones..


for starters and watching movies JVC- RX900 will be good and they are big and comfy.. around 4k i guess..

north of that you can look into audio technica there are few HP from AD that have good reviews....

AD700- open cans.

M50- closed.

My budget around 10k & want good base and also high frequency sound. I've Klipsch S4i What abt wireless headphones.

wireless headphone will be good but wont give you the quality that you will get with the cabled headphones.. good wireless headphones with high quality sound will be north of 10K.

you can look for audio technica ath-m50.. if you looking for good bass.. although they are not completely bass heavy but pretty much fun headphones to listen to..

you can get the same from pristine note (mumbai) 8k i guess..

I purchased it through the authorised distributor from Mumbai. Last week I saw this model at Reliance Digital here in Mysore priced @ Rs. 4400/-. I'm using this with my iPhone 4 and gives crystal clear and noise free reception. It isolates the external noise up to 90 %.

Shortlisted Sony MDR-DS6500 and Sannheiser RS180 to use with my AVR/BD Player. Which is the best. DS6500 is not yet available in India and can be purchased through ebay global buy.
