Hi

Expert advise needed, as every blog says something diff.

I have a small dedicated room 10 x 16 and wants to set a small yet good quality hometheater, my existing is 40 inch sony bravia; with 5 speakers and ps3.

I am planning to upgrade to a decent hometheater for HD movies, gaming, youtube video over wifi, keeping in mind small size of room.

Shall i use 40 inch sony or buy projector.

Also suggest av, speakers, active woofer

My budget is between 50 to 100K (Inclusive of Projector), if i can use sony 40inch, then for av, speaker and woofer 50K

Decoration, wall, light panels, acoustic little treatment i will get it done separately

Also i live in a small city where yamaha, or other good brands showroom are not there, so whats best buy online or from delhi (300 kms from my location), what about service support ???

thanks a ton in advance, i plan to install this in 15 days...

a full HD (1080p)projector will eat up 75,000 onward. for about 50k or below, Home theater in a box might be a better idea from the likes of Yamaha, Denon.
Do you already have a PC for gaming?

Hi you can go for 2 speakers and a center channel in the beginning and add components later. The best bet would be to audition the speakers and then choose.

The projector can be had under 40000 depending on the model.

Do you already have a PC for gaming?

1.
Are Box version good - as i believe the purchase should be good for next 8 to 10 years - please suggest 2-3 choices, what is 7.1 ? do i need 8 speakers for that ?

2.
Is it necessary to buy a projector 1024 or my SONY 40" will be good ?
So i save money on display and invest that on av and speakers ?

3.
For gaming i have PS3, i mostly play on ps3 (shall use it as blue ray player), or shall i buy seperate blue ray ???

i dont play on pc, I am looking for hometheater for movies, music, youtube and ps3 gaming.

4.
Please tell me list of equipment's to buy for hometheater
AV
Speakers R,L,F,WOO,Back
Display
And other item ???

5.

is 40 inch sony bravia ok for hometheater instead of full hd projector ???
the hometheater room is 10 x 16

So i drop idea of projector add later, and invest in good quality av, speakers....
i need surround sound dolby effect for movies and gaming

Boxed Package everyone is saying no in this forum....

Please suggest

PS: i do have a desktop - a little i7 beast :) with 32 gb ram and top line graphicscard with dell ultra motior, but for my design work, both hometheater and workroom are separate....

i play coc on mobile and other games on ps3.....

Since your budget is 1L max, I will suggest to invest in a good AVR (denon 1200 or so) and a package of good speaker set+ sub combo (pioneer AJ series) which can be fit into your 1L budget. 40" is not bad for HT experience, and you can build on top of this over a period of time.

1. good AVR (denon 1200 or so) - approx best cost, some alternates
2. a package of good speaker set - how many, what, brands, price approx, some alternates

3. sub combo (pioneer AJ series) - what is sub combo, some alternates

4. what about active whoofer ???

I would be grateful, to get exact brand name and pricing for 2-3 models, so i can phone call the showrooms, for demo as i will be travelling 300 km + 300 return from my city

thanks

40" TV is fine. look at Speaker systems from Pioneer, the Elac debut series, some Morel Soundspot users are also on this forum who seem happy with it. If you can mix and match ,
look at Paradigm, PSB, Q acoustics , Wharfedale or even bic america.
The key would be to go to the dealers and audition as many speakers as you can, because all these systems have different signatures. Make sure you buy what you like, and please don't hurry and make an impulse buy. there is no ONE perfect system for everyone.
With a av receiver , make sure you get enough inputs like HDMI or digital coax/optical/RCA, depending on what existing gear you have that needs to be plugged in.
make sure you do have placements in mind when it comes to 5:1 or more systems. Not placing the speakers in the right place can put a extreme high end system sound dead and garbled.

Very sound advice above.
A projector would definitely be better but you already have a display so you could start with the audio now and get a projector at a later stage.
The YHT 299 is a HTIB. Lots of people are very happy with it. Check out HTIBs and separates and see what you want.
For speakers I would like to add Boston Acoustics, Polk Audio, Mission, Energy. There are some Indian brands like Sanen, DNM, Telome which could be looked at.
AVR can be from Pioneer, Yamaha, Denon.
Yes, it's hugely confusing at the start [emoji2] [emoji2]
Please don't hurry.

So av seems to be finalize at DENON AVR-X1200W 7.2-CH NETWORK AV RECEIVER WITH DOLBY ATMOS, WI-FI, AIRPLAY, BLUETOOTH, 4K & 3D PASS-THROUGH
by Denon
Sale: 41,900.00

What about speakers, how many, price, please mention exact name and series

My budget is 100K (40-45 goes in av), display ill use sony 40" as of now,
so 50 to 60 K for speakers and blue ray player (infact my ps3 can play blueray)but i'll buy separate player

onkyo s3700 latest htib much better than yamaha and pioneer. Price Rs. 30000 will perform well in even larger rooms. you can get the front speaker replaced by polk floor standers or elac bookshelves at around 50k total or may also attach the fronts along with rears if screen is on the shorter side of the room. So total 6 speakers and a sub cost around 51500 k. Depends oj your negotiation skills. Showroom is in GK2

Thats a good choice on AVR. In that budget you have the option to go for a pair of good towers or stand mount book shelf speakers for now. Once you understand the amp and speakers better, you can add the center, surrounds and a sub as your tastes develop. Or you could get a 5.1 satellite speaker set.

Speakers are taste dependent. Do audition speakers before buying, not to be disappointed later.

Check Amazon for a brief idea on the speakers. There are a number of models from Polk, Jamo, Pioneer, JBL, Harman Kardon, etc

Hi

Since you are based in a remote location 200 - 300 kms away from dealers, based on advice provided by FMs, see some YouTube videos to get a basic understanding of AVR and certain speakers performance....a simple 5.1 setup is fine for the area mentioned by you....this is based on available movie and concert content on the net which most of us use.

Go Step by step and slowly......invest a good amount in speakers as these will remain for quite sometime....AVRs keep changing with features every 2 years or even every year...all depends on how much you want....

7.1 in this case means two front channels, one centre channel, two surround channels (total 5). There are two more channels that can be configured for dolby atmos or rear surround (6&7). You can have upto two subwoofers but they have to be active subs (Independently Powered). For your room size one decent sub-woofer should be enough Since you have frozen Denon 1200 refer here

Speaker configuration and Amp Assign settings AVR-X1200W

Since you already have a Display, you can invest in a projector at a later date.

Add speaker cables and stands / mounting.

denon 1200 is not 100% freezed, as my friends told me i have to first finalize speakers
and then av, please suggest in range 40 to 50 k for av

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
