Hi All,

I been reading this forum for a while but still have some concerns about how to setup the HTPC, and I need help in setting up a HTPC with reusing my existing setup.

If I cant reuse please let me know the alternatives.

Total Investment - 10,000/- to 11,000/-
Motherboard, Processor, Ram

Requirements:
I want to connect HDMI from PC to TV(LG 42") and Optical from PC to receiver(Onkyo 7.1 HTS 5100)

Dont want to buy additional Video and audio cards.

Play HD Movies - 1080P (Bluray rip movies)
Games like - Farcry, Mostwanted, Max Payne (Not toooo high end games)

My current setup:
Motherboard - M2NPVM - I need to buy new one as current one does not have HDMI. Need to know which i can buy with my budget.
Processor - AMD 2 Athlon 3800 64 ( can i reuse with new motherboard i buy ?)
Ram - DDr2 1 GB ( can i reuse ?)
Power Supply - notsure how it is.

waiting for response. :)

Regards,
Vikram

HTPC solution - would not work with games

if you want to watch movies you should buy a good video card

this solution does not meet your constraints, but for hTPC is a cheap and sensible way--

really low cost would be -- add a gt9400w/hdmi for about 2.5k.. add another 2 GB of RAM for another 2+k, add a bd drive for about 7k.. you're done..

i'm not much of a gamer, but a 5670 for about 6300 would take care of most things before you cpu becomes a bottle neck.

i am assuming your athlon is socket 939 and not am2. AM2 would allow a upgrade path.. 939 is a deadend..

PSU- depends on the original.. cannot harm to buy a better psu..

Meeting your requirements (again htpc focussed)

e5300 - 2900
g41 mB- 3400/-

2gb ram - 2800/-

=8100/-

better
------
e5400 - 3k
g45mb- 6k

2 gb ram - 2800

about 12k.

no intregated graphics will allow any high quality game play..

cheers
