Hey All,
I have been a silent spectator since sometime and have gained quite a knowledge already from this forum. Now its high time for me to cry out for help.
I have an LG 47inch LED, an Onkyo NR609 amp and now I am looking for a 5.1 speaker system. I have auditioned Paradigm Millenia and 100CT and couple of BWs.
I really liked 100CT out of those. I have heard some good reviews about Polk TL 1600; havent auditioned though.
Budget - Under 50k
Room Size - 20x12
My question is what all Speaker makes should I consider(which fit my bill)?
Where can I get them in NCR (or may be online)?
Can someone recommend me a technician who can install HT for me in case I buy online?

Thanks in advance

The Paradigm stuff that you are looking at is excellent. Which City are you located in for a technician?

You can get Polk's at Denon Studio(MGF-Gurgaon)

Hello Chilleez,

Whats the price of the Procinema 600 and what about Octroi/shipping charges. How much did Amazon charge you?

I understand that even after landing in India you would have to pay some octroi etc before you can take delivery of the goods.

huh!!! didnt realize about the extra octroi; I m in Delhi though if that could save me few bucks.
Amazon's final price incl. everything was approx $1100. I am just not sure if DT 600 is worth that much.

Today I auditioned Wharfedale Moviestar 70+ and 10.1.
Didnt like 70+ at all. 10.1 were good but somehow I feel that Paradigm 100 CT package was better. It could be that the whole room set up was different when I auditioned Paradigm.
Then while I was leaving I also got a chance to try Monitor Audio's M4 (stereo). Loved them but cant figure out how will they sound in a 5.1 set up. Or do I really need them when I am planning to buy a Sub-woofer.
Can someone tell me if Paradigm 110 will be sufficient for a big room?
Still on the hunt.

a suggestion you can look upon diamond bs and centres like wharfdale 9cm and 9.1 or 10 series..etc...than complete 5.1 package...
they are better then the packages...
also hear klipsch..they are well match with onkyo...movie only btw...
wharfes are very nice for music..
in fact its upon you after audition..

Did u try Energy RC micro , Tannoy HTS 101 and Klipsch HD theatre/ Quintet series?

Didn't get a chance today. Will try tomorrow (if wife permits:ohyeah:). Not sure if energy micro will be a good fit for a 20x12 room. Any place in NCR where I can audition Klipsch? In fact Noida is closer to my place than is Gurgaon, so Noida also works for me.

Hmm I recently auditioned the Procinema 800 & 1000 in Mumbai... I was auditioning these for a frnd of mine... We was so impressed with the tonality & bass that we both bought the procinema 1000( although I got the plus version with the procinema 2000 centre)... Frankly speaking I might have been happy even with the 800 but bought the 1000 coz I had the budget for it.... Mind u we took audition 2 hours after we had auditioned Genelec 5.1(8020 & 8030 with 7050 sub) @ pandam audio which Dave(denom) arranged for us... So u can get a vague idea of my state of mind at that time after hearing such wonderful genelec speakers...The Deftech speakers impressing me just 2 hours of auditioning Genelecs is almost as big a compliment I can give these speakers... I especially loved how the sub blended so well with the speakers to give us almost perfect bass(my himble opinion)... BTW I auditioned them with marantz so I cant comment how they will sound with Onkyo but it is a set you should not leave out of ur auditioning process...
After discounts the price for the 5.1 DT sets are as follows:-
Procinema 1000 plus(centre is 2000) 95k
Procinema 1000 (centre is 1000) 85k
Procinema 800 (centre is 1000) 64k
I didnt audition or enquire about the Procinema 600 but my guess would be that it would be in the 47-50k range... If u can stretch ur budget I would seriously recommend looking seriously at the Procinema 800 :) ....

PS Just a side note... Deftech (like polk) is very well priced in India with prices just around 10-15% higher than the Amazon price in the US...

Will surely try to audition DT. How do they sound in your room when compared to the place where you auditioned? How big is your room size?

Yesterday was another audition day for me and I think I have zeroed in on my speakers.
I heard Monitor Audio MR6 and MR4. Tannoy Mercury V4 and Wharfedale DIAMOND 10.5; all tower speakers. I also auditioned quad 11L Classic and thats another story.
I liked all the tower speakers mentioned above but finally I decided that MR6 will be the best to go with my Onkyo.
Has anyone used MR6 before by any chance?
Also, I have read somewhere that Wharfedale doesn't go well with Onkyo, is that true?

Regarding Quad 11L Classic bookshelf. That pair was an absolute beauty. I just loved it and in fact I was surprised that the pair was producing fantastic sound when compared to many FS. Quad is out of my budget though.

So finally I got my MR6 and an MR center. Loving them. I am yet to learn lots of thing in my amp though.
