Hello guys,

My house is under renovation now.
I am planning to buy Sony Bravia 40EX430 led tv.
Also have planned for HT DAV-DZ340 or DAV-DZ640...

Pls suggest if it would be a decent setup.
My budget is not more than 20k +-2k.

My only concern is will I be able to connect HT to my TV.
I've heard something about ARC that atleast one HDMI should have ARC not sure what exactly it is. What if my tv does not have ARC in HDMI port? Without it I can't connect HT ?

I am new to these stuff. Would highly appreciate your reply .

Cheers.
Lola.

Sony makes great tv's but for your HT requirement I would ask you to stay away from consumer brands like sony, Philips, Samsung, etc..........and go with hifi names like Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha, etc......

In your budget you might be able to squeeze in Onkyo HT-S3400 or even the current 3500. A bit more and you can get the Denon 1313XP. All of these would be better than any of the above mentioned sony HT systems.

small correction, It's Denon 1312XP:ohyeah:. Your options would be

Onkyo 3400-24K
Yamaha196-19K (after bargaining)

If going for Yamaha YHT196 then rest of the amount can be utilized for Blu Ray Player or Media Player.

ARC is Audio Return Channel function wherein a single HDMI cable is required to carry the sound from your TV to your HT. You don't need a separate cable for this. For this to work, your both TV & HT should support ARC. On TV it's mentioned there generally on hdmi1 port. As regards to HT, it's also specified. HDMI should be high speed cable to support ARC.

But as in you would be using some player to watch movies and connecting your AVR ( assuming you have AVR based HTIB) to your HD STB then why worry about ARC?;)

Appreciate your reply guys....

Well I guess I should increase my budget and go for onkyo, yamaha or denon ;)
I hope they are good at playin music also .... Because what I heard for onkyo is they are not good for music but only for movies.... My usage is going to be 50/50....

And by media player do u mean DVD player ?

Since 50 pct use is music consider a stereo set up as well with good book shelf speakers in the range of 12-14k and an amplifier in the range of 8-10k. The home theatre systems you are short listing will be good for movies but may disappoint on the music front. A stereo can be used for movies as well sans the surround effect.

Ahhhhh.... Any specific models you can help me with ?
For speakers and amp. .?

first inform about your source present planned and player...
amp speaker set up is best only for dedicated streo set up..
so inform your player and source
