Hello Everyone!!!

I am Dibyendu from Kolkata, West Bengal. I work in IT industry. I have been a hi-fi audio fan from a long time. Looking to get ideas to enhance my audio experience.

Currently I am having Sony DAV TZ215 and want to upgrade it.

Looking forward for a fresh start with a new setup!

Regards!

Hi Dibyendu,

Welcome to Hifi Vision!

A few cents from me strictly as per my experience:

1. Don't go for Home Theater in a Box (HTIB) type set up. They suck your money and give very less out of it. They show you the best of all the worlds and in fact take you nowhere. Go for components. Slowly build it one by one.

2. Before making a purchase decision, always think with respect to the various components. For example if you going to buy an AVR first think what speakers you have and vice versa.

3. Never make a purchase decision solely on the basis of what people have recommended. Audition yourself first, see your set up, your expectations and go for upgrading your set up.

4. As far as possible try to make a purchase something which is future-proof to a large extent, for example 4K, HDR Compatible, HDCP 2.2 compatible. Keep abreast of the current technology developments and keep those in mind while purchasing.

Hi Pranjan,
Thanks for your suggestion. I have read several threads since joined in this forum and got your thoughts also on slowly build your home theater.
Currently my budget is also constraint (30 to 40K), so planning to buy two front speakers and one AVR first. Both movie music is my priority.
Checking Pioneer vsx 531, denon 520bt but not sure about speakers and also confused on where to buy. Will be helpful if you guide me please :)
Thanks
Dibyendu

Lots of option in Kolkata now.

ProFx at Hindusthan Park.
SKS Traders at Behala, near 14 no. bus stand.
Harmonie Audio in New Alipore.
Promises opposite Kala Mandir.
There is a new place supposed to have opened at the Park St - Camac St. crossing, not sure of the name though.
There is also Watteffects and Solfege.

Google these and you will get phone numbers and directions, go ahead and listen at a few places. You will start to develop a preference to particular kind of sound soon.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
