Hi guys ...I read , audition a lot of high end floorstanders but have never bought one till now :) Bless me to buy a good one...

Well,
I don't know if you consider them as high ends..Maybe they could could be entry levels according to few people.

Have done Wharfdale diamonds, Paradigm monitors, Def tech bipolars, Energy classic, Monitor audio plats, polk audio Rti's, Harmans and Yamaha.

I was serious to buy one in 2008, but it couldn't happen. Now I am seriously scouting again. Will be doing few more listening over the weekend...Of all I have heard Def tech sounded the best to me but its damn costly!!

Before buying a monitor speaker check out if it performs well and without much distortion at listening levels. You see, the reason monitors are comparatively cheaper than floor standers is because they have lower sensitivity and lower maximum output. Don't go by the max output reported by the manufacturers either. They often do not state the distortion levels at maximum output and only state output that can be achieved without thermal failure. at acceptable distortion levels the output is much less.

So unless you have a very small room or listen to music at lower levels, be careful.

Besides, a monitor speaker, because of its lower sensitivity will require a more powerful amp that will cost thousands extra. So by the time you add this cost and cost of good monitor stands, monitors are no longer much cheaper than floor standers.

I picked up Monitor audio RX6 yesterday...just loved the detail and had exactly what I looked for .Will write my experience shortly
