I have browsed through this forum a few times in the past, and I signed up today. I have spent some time on diyaudio.com in the past, and I find you guys on this site quite interesting because of the India-centric discussions.

I wrote up an article which a few first-time music system buyers may find useful. Comments most welcome. :)

Hope to interact with some of you in various threads. :)

welcome and have a wonderful time here.very good read BTW,thanks a ton for that.its good to see some seasoned DIYers here :clapping:.love the "asawari's",simple, elegant and must be a delight to listen to.cheers

account of making a speaker by dhandanaught has been the one of the main reasons that got me into all this. I remember reading that one day at office and it got me so hooked! I even called the peerless guys in Mumbai! Thanks for me having "dhanda naught" and spending time on this forum
Welcome!

Thanks

Thanks, all of you. :)

Hope to learn from you guys. I have dabbled a bit in DIY but am pretty clueless about the current commercial products, their availability/features/pricing, etc. Since most of you here are pretty clued in on those things, I'll learn a lot there, I'm sure.

Cranky: yes, I had heard that some of you have referred to the Asawari. It's sad that I haven't been able to complete any of the subsequent projects yet. Work has really taken over almost all my time. Hope to re-start some of them in a year's time. Will definitely write when I have something to write about. :)

Hi Tarun

Good to have you aboard here..

For those who don't know him, he designed the Asawaris, and is a highly qualified ustaad, whom I have had the pleasure of meeting a few times. Great guy!

Sirji, you embarass me. You remind me of those "Ustaads" of Hindustani Classical music who bestow the titles of "Ustaad" and "Pandit" on themselves, losing patience waiting for the world to bestow it on them.

Glad to be here. I only wish I had more to offer, and (as always) I wish real gooroos like Gooroo Angshoo would write and provide us all some enlightenment too. :) He's one of the very few Indian DIYers who has designed and built his own OB speakers, complete with measurements, experiments, trials and errors. I only wish such things would get the visibility and appreciation they deserve. People like me are one-hit wonders.

Tarun

Yes Tarun I agree about Angshu. He is a real hard core diyer, based in Gurgaon, and wound a pair of inductors for me a few months ago. He has different fixtures and devices, made by himself, for doing all kinds of things, such as cutting perfect circles ( like the Jasper Jig that one can get in the US).

i read, with great interest, your description of how you created the "asawari".

do you have/does anybody else have a pair of (passive crossover) asawaris that i can listen to? - would, really, like to listen -

Hello Tarunji
Welcome to Hifivision
Hope you remember me :)
I still thank you for mailing me and helping me out with the basics of hifi

It looks like you are a great follower/practitioner(?) of Indian Classical music, especially the Hindustani style. What you have written above is indeed true. I have first-hand experience with some of these "Ustads" and "Pundits". Your nomeclature of "Asawari" also points to your interest in Indian classical music. In this forum, we discuss music too and looking forward to Indian classical music inputs from you.

Very warm welcome and regards.

Hi guys. Am visiting here again after a gap of what feels like fifty years. :)

Just finished the Asawari Mark II

Am amazed at the action on this site -- I missed out a lot in these last few years. :)
